This actress has had a tumultuous journey to reach the level of fame she has achieved in her career. To see such a big star pull off a grand gesture made her happy and she recently opened up about the same.
The actress we are talking about has made people laugh. Not just Shah Rukh Khan, but many other big stars found themselves ROLFing, thanks to her humour. But did you know she hailed from a poor family in Amritsar? While talking about her journey, she once revealed, “Mummy doosron ke ghar kaam karti thi main baithi rehti thi. Toilet saaf karti thi. Phir wo sabzi bachi rehti thi to bolte the le jaana bach gayi hai. Unki basi sabzi hamari fresh ho jaati thi. Hamara poora din ban jaata tha.”
So who is she? The actress we are talking about is Bharti Singh. Known as the queen of comedy on television, Bharti revealed how SRK once surprised her with his beautiful gesture. On The Thugesh Show, Singh revealed, “I was new in the industry, having just come from my village. I doubted whether Shah Rukh would actually perform as Lalli. I also didn’t know the level of grandeur—I hadn’t seen Mannat. So, I just asked him, ‘Sir, will you dress up as Lalli?’ And he immediately said, ‘Yes.’ When I handed him the wig, he even asked for my character’s full costume, which was a frock. When he dressed up, I couldn’t hold back my tears. I had come to Mumbai from a poor family in Amritsar, and here I was, asking Shah Rukh Khan for something—and he just did it. It was one of the golden days of my life. I am a huge fan of his.”
Shah Rukh Khan pulled off the character Lalli on Comedy Nights Bachao. As Lalli, the superstar, had said on the show, “Pehle hi log jo hai samajhte nahi hai ki main macho hero hoon. Yeh dekhne ke baad thodi bohot jo rahi hogi woh bhi khatam ho jayegi.”
