The third Es Jardí edition entered its third week on Saturday, and the celebration could not be more upbeat as the Colombian fusion band Bomba Estéreo lit up the night in Calvia, transforming the Mediterranean into an unforgettable tropical rhythmic event.
The Mallorca Live venue was converted into a garden of electronic and Caribbean beats by the Colombian band that has revolutionised Latin American music.
Palmesana said the best Mediterranean terrace of the Mallorcan summer hosted a night in which the Caribbean and the Mediterranean came together in a show full of colour, energy and sonic fusion, with the Mallorca Live Venue in Calvià transformed into a true tropical garden.
Li Saumet, the voice and soul of the group, appeared covered in flowers on the Estrella Damm Stage to open the show with ‘Llegó el verano’ (The Summer Arrived), included in Astropical, her latest work with Rawayana.
Bombas Estéreo, an explosion of genres
From there, the Mallorcan audience enjoyed an explosion of genres —champeta, cumbia, electronic and pop—through songs like Pájaros, Me duele (with Manu Chao) ,and they chanted To my love, which made the audience vibrate.
There was no shortage of anthems, such as “Soy Yo,” “Fiesta,” and “Somos Dos,” along with a moving version of “La Llorona” and the traditional Colombian touch of Romantic Champeta, which brought even the youngest members of the audience onto the stage to dance the night away to the sound of Caribbean rhythms.
The climax came with Fuego, their successful debut that catapulted the band to fame in 2010, and Ojitos Lindos, their collaboration with Bad Bunny that marked a turning point in their career.
The festival’s line-up reaffirms Es Jardí as a cultural reference that combines music, gastronomy, art and family activities. The edition has the support of the Calvià City Council, the Consell de Mallorca, the Balearic Government through the Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics, and the Fundació Mallorca Turisme, along with sponsors such as Estrella Damm, CaixaBank, Air Europa, Trasmed, Inclusive Collection, and Coca-Cola.
With more than 70,000 people in attendance throughout the festival in Mallorca, Es Jardí confirms that it is much more than an event, and more of a Mediterranean experience that unites music, entertainment, and culture in an incomparable setting.
