Sold! To the method dessing-obsessed actor in the back.
Timothée Chalamet did everything he could to embody the role of Bob Dylan for his role in “A Complete Unknown” — including secretly bidding on a denim jacket that came straight from the 83-year-old singer himself.
Earlier this week, Chalamet, 29, shared a photo of himself on Instagram donning a denim jacket covered in colorful patches of fabric, lace and embroidered decals.
If the unique item looks oddly familiar, that’s probably because it was previously worn by Dylan during a central scene in his 1987 movie “Hearts of Fire.”
So how did Chalamet obtain this memento? Not from the singer himself. In January, Julien’s Auctions ran an extensive collection of Bob Dylan memorabilia for their sale titled “Celebrating Bob Dylan: The Aronowitz Archive & More.”
Lot #55 was none other than the hand-embellished Levi’s jean jacket, which was scooped up by a then-unknown bidder for $25,400 after a short bidding war, Vogue reports.
It’s now clear that the SAG award-winning actor — or perhaps girlfriend Kylie Jenner? — was the mysterious winner of the iconic denim piece, which he paired with a white graphic tee and baggy dark wash jeans in his Instagram snap.
However, the star has already moved on to his next project as he could be seen with the book “Dune: Messiah” on a ping-pong table in the background of the pic.
Chalamet has had fun channeling Bob Dylan throughout the past year to promote his film, including at the SAG Awards last month.
The star hit the carpet wearing a black leather blazer suit and a bright green button-down by Chrome Hearts.
He accessorized with a diamond-encrusted bolo tie — which is actually a Cartier Libre Féline watch necklace — and black leather boots.
The actor’s stylist, Taylor McNeil, posted a reference pic of Dylan in a near-identical style from around 2011, revealing the meaningful inspiration behind his neon green attire.
Plus, he pulled off the biggest switch in December when he fully committed to the bit with a blond wig, re-creating a Dylan look from the 2003 Sundance Film Festival.
We can’t wait to see what role Chalamet embodies next.
