Looking for a new spot to add to your cafe-hopping list?

Cloudmills, a new grab-and-go bakery has just opened in Orchard, offering over 25 types of bread and pastries inspired by Japanese dishes.

Some items on the menu include Unagi Moon ($7.20), a shio pan (salt bread) sandwich with tamagoyaki and unagi, Mango Mochi ($6.90), a mochi skin-wrapped doughnut, as well as Kombu-chan ($3.50), a savoury madeleine filled with lime, kombu and cream cheese.

Behind these abkes at Cloudmills is Genevieve Lee, the runner-up in season one of MasterChef Singapore.

She helped develop the bakery’s menu items, which consists five core bakes: doughnuts, sankaku shio pan (triangular-shaped salt bread), madeleines, laminated pastries and shokupan (milk bread), some of which are prepared using the binchotan (Japanese white charcoal) grill, local media reported.

Genevieve is also the founder of Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery, which was known for its bomboloni doughnuts, and also ran Shio and Sato, a pop-up shio pan bakery at The Centrepoint with food influencer Seth Lui.

Both ventures have since closed.

Regarding Shio and Sato’s closure, Genevieve told AsiaOne last December that they had no plans for a new pop-up, adding: “We will probably take a break to re-look into our recipes and menu, and maybe come back in the future.”

Cloudmills is the latest concept under F&B company Cloud Restaurant Group, which also operates Cloudfields, an all-day brunch cafe in Outram that opened last November.

AsiaOne has contacted Cloudmills and Genevieve for more information.
