There are many movies that have become a huge hit. Many actors and actresses have been a part of these amazing movies. However, there are many stars who have worked hard and earned a lot of fame. But, sometimes stardom just fades away. There are people who have seen the highest phase and even the lowest. So many actors have been forgotten despite giving big hits. One such thing has happened with an actress from the past.
We are talking about Bollywood actress Vimi. She has worked in several notable films in the 60s and 70s. She got all the success and fame but despite this her life took a dark turn. She started her career when she was already married and had two children.
She did movies like Aabroo, Hamraaz, and Patanga. However, she faced a lot of issues and could not get the success and fame she deserved. But what must have happened? She has worked with many Bollywood stars like Sunil Dutt, Shashi Kapoor, Raj Kumar. She was born in 1943 in Jalandhar, Punjab and got married to Shiv Agarwal, the son of a famous industrialist. But, her parents were against this marriage.
She once went to a party with her husband in Calcutta where she met music director Ravi who was impressed by her beauty. The music director called her to Mumbai to meet BR Chopra. BR Chopra offered her her first film Humraaz. Vimi’s in-laws did not wish to see her working in films but her husband supported her.
Hence, they removed Vimi and her husband from the house. Now, the entire responsibility was in the hands of Vimi. Her first film, Humraaz became a huge hit. From here, her career went ahead and even in the 60s, Vimi used to charge Rs 3 lakh as fees for one film.
But soon, some of her films did not work well. She stopped getting any films and within no time, all her savings were gone. She also got divorced from her husband. Later, she fell in love with someone who reportedly pushed Vimi towards prostitution. She also started having alcohol post her divorce.
Her career was ruined in just 10 years and at the age of 34 her liver was damaged but she had no money to be treated. She was in a general ward of her hospital and when she died there was no one to take her to the crematorium. Her body was taken to the crematorium on a thela hand cart.
