“The View” co-host Sara Haines addressed whether there are safety concerns as the search for fellow news anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mom continues more than a month after she went missing.
Haines exclusively spoke with Page Six at Anne Klein’s Women Who Do Awards luncheon at the Rainbow Room Wednesday.
When asked if she and her ABC co-stars — Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin — have any fear for their safety amid the ongoing investigation, Haines said, “Any concerns I have are not new.”
“For anyone thinking about their place in the world, it’s always a concern,” she continued, adding, “I think with Savannah Guthrie, we’re still too in it to assess it.”
The two journalists were former colleagues. Haines starred on the “Today” show from 2009 to 2013, while Savannah joined NBC as a co-anchor in 2012.
“Having worked with Savannah, I can’t get past her part and her mom’s part to even think about my life, myself [and] how it affects the greater world,” Haines said. “I’m so single-focused on being brought to my knees in pain from a distance watching this.”
All Haines wants is “some peace” for Savannah, her husband Michael Feldman, their kids, her siblings and, of course, Nancy.
“I want it solved, I want them to figure something out,” Haines said. “My heart breaks and I have no words for how hard this is to watch.”
Savannah has been absent from the “Today” show since her 84-year-old mother went missing last month.
Nancy was last seen alive at her Tucson-area home on Jan. 31. She was reported missing the next day after the Pima County Sheriff’s Department determined that she was taken from her home against her will.
After receiving an alleged ransom note demanding that $6 million in bitcoin be sent to a bitcoin address in exchange for Nancy’s release, Savannah released a statement sharing that she will pay the demand but needs proof of life.
Despite posting multiple desperate pleas begging Nancy’s purported kidnapper for more information, the family has yet to receive any evidence of her whereabouts.
Police have since released horrifying security footage of an armed and masked individual outside of Nancy’s home on the night she disappeared. However, no suspect has been named in the case.
Savannah’s “Today” co-hosts have been rallying around her and welcomed her with loving arms as she visited Studio 1A last week.
Haines, 48, hosted the intimate event honoring distinguished leaders, including entrepreneur Atoya Burleson, Dr. Hauschka Skin Care CEO Martina Halloran, Chief of Breast Surgery at Norwell Health Dr. Karen Michele Kostroff, French model Tina Kunakey and philanthropic strategist Caroline Kelley Rosen.
Also in attendance were Anne Klein’s former brand ambassador Joan Smalls and model Alva Chinn.
