Who Leonardo DiCaprio was speaking to at the 2026 Golden Globes may forever remain a mystery.

Teyana Taylor, who previously claimed that her One Battle After Another co-star was talking to her in a Globes clip that went viral on TikTok, has clarified that DiCaprio was, in fact, not speaking to her.

Taylor revealed the news during an appearance on The Tonight Show on Wednesday, where she explained that she thought she “broke the Da Vinci code” when she told Access Hollywood on Tuesday that DiCaprio was speaking to her about KPop Demon Hunters. The actress claimed at the time that the two were “just jamming” in the clip, which shows DiCaprio laughing and using several animated expressions while speaking to someone at his table.

Taylor, who won her first Golden Globe on Sunday, previously said that she was “really excited” when Demon Hunters took home the awards for best animated motion picture and best original song.

“So when I first seen [the clip], I didn’t watch the whole thing,” Taylor explained. “So I was like ‘Oh you’re talking about KPop Demon Hunters, he’s talking about me.’ But then I watched it and they was doing the lip-read thing, and I had to call Leo.”

She continued, “I was like, ‘You can’t be talking to me, were you talking to me?’ Because I already told people you was talking to me. So apparently he had two KPop Demon Hunter conversations that night, so KPop Demon Hunters was just in his mouth all night.”

Taylor jokingly asked DiCaprio who else he was “kekeing with like that” as the two friends often talk with animated gestures.

“So I had a little friendly jealousy, I was like ‘Who else are you chewing your invisible gum with?’ He didn’t even remember who he was talking to,” Taylor said. “He was like ‘I don’t even know.’”

Taylor told Access Hollywood earlier this week that she and DiCaprio were chatting about how much her daughters, Iman Shumpert and Rue Rose Shumpert, love Demon Hunters. Believing that the viral clip was about that conversation, Taylor said that she “didn’t know that [the] whole moment was being captured.”

DiCaprio is well known for his quiet public persona and emphasis on privacy — so much so that Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser joked during her opening monologue that fans “don’t know anything else” about the star besides his tendency to date younger partners.

DiCaprio was nominated for best actor in a musical or comedy at the Globes, but went home empty-handed. One Battle After Another took home the award for best picture – musical or comedy and director Paul Thomas Anderson won the award for best director and best screenplay.
