Tess Daly is reportedly set to follow in ex-husband Vernon Kay’s footsteps as her next career move is revealed.

The TV presenter, 57, stepped down from Strictly Come Dancing at the end of the 2025 series after co-hosting the BBC show alongside Claudia Winkleman for more than two decades.

Her departure from the hit show came before the couple announced in May that they had split after years of marriage and raising their two daughters together.

Now, Tess is said to be preparing for a move into radio, with reports claiming she is in talks to host her own show on Magic Radio.

If the move goes ahead, she could find herself on the airwaves at the same time as Vernon, who currently presents the mid-morning show on BBC Radio 2.

A source told The Sun: ‘Tess is loved by millions of Strictly fans across the country.

‘She has a trusted voice and bosses are keen to give her a prime slot at the station.’

The Daily Mail has contacted Tess’ representatives for comment.

In May, Tess and Vernon, 52, explosively revealed they were parting ways after 23 years of marriage, with a sensational statement shocking fans.

In a joint announcement, the former Strictly host and DJ said they had reached a mutual agreement to go their separate ways, though friends of the couple said they were both still at their marital home in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire.

The couple wrote: ‘After much consideration, and with a deep sense of care and respect for one another, we have made the decision to separate amicably.

‘This has not been an easy choice, but it comes from a place of mutual understanding and a shared desire of what is best for both of us…

‘We remain great friends and, most importantly, fully committed to our roles as loving and supportive parents, which will always be our priority. There are no other parties involved in this decision. We kindly ask for privacy during this time.

‘We will not be making any further public comments.’

Tess and Vernon – thought to be worth around £10million – were last seen publicly together in February of this year when they hosted an episode of The One Show.

The showbiz couple announced their split in a joint statement after 22 years of marriage as they vowed to continue to have ‘care and respect’ for one another

It appears Tess and Vernon, who share two children, Phoebe, 21, and Amber, 16, will maintain their friendly stance when it comes to divvying up their reported £10million fortune, as well as their properties and business interests.

Indeed, largely due to the couple having both secured big salaries at the BBC in recent years, the chances of either squabbling over money is unlikely, making the process a relatively comfortable one, according to sources.

An insider said: ‘Vernon and Tess have been clever with their money and invested in joint projects, as well as solo ones.

‘But both having high income streams means they won’t need to battle over their joint fortune as, individually, they’re well off.

‘So they’ll walk away from this split without taking a hit financially. Compared to the majority of showbiz splits, this is rather straight-forward.’

Vernon is thought to be paid around £395,000 from his Radio 2 job, where he’s one of the highest paid presenters having taken over from Ken Bruce in the plum mid-morning slot following the broadcasting veteran’s departure in 2023.

Tess meanwhile, was paid in the region of £400,000 a year as the co-host of Strictly Come Dancing, a role she vacated last December after 21 years.

The former model tops up her income by endorsing beauty products, as well as her own swimwear brand Naia beach.

At the heart of their joint fortune is their five bedroom Buckinghamshire home worth an estimated £3million, which they bought 22 years ago for £1.18million.

Vernon broke his silence on the split on his BBC Radio 2 show recently.

Thanking well-wishers for their support, he said: ‘I just want to say on behalf of myself and Tess, thank you, thank you for all your well-wishes it’s been greatly appreciated.’

It was reported they had posted their Instagram split statement while raising glasses of champagne.

The Mirror said the pair are ‘keeping it classy’ with regard to their split.

The couple are also still living in the same property together in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire.

A source close to the pair told the publication: ‘After they released the statement, Vernon and Tess took a moment to toast each other and their futures.

‘They only want the best for each other and their family. There has been no big fallout, more a gradual growing apart and wanting different things.

‘They have vowed to stay friends and to keep things classy when it comes to the split and any future interviews they give. They only want the best for each other.’

They started dating after meeting in 2001, with Vernon going on to pop the question the following year on Christmas Day.
