Tammy Hembrow has taken her foray into the world of TV very seriously, as she turned herself into a glamorous small screen star on Monday.

The fitness influencer, 32, looked every inch the budding television star as she arrived at the launch of the new Nine series Shark! in Sydney.

She shared an array of images and video of the event to her Instagram, expressing pride over starring in the inaugural season.

Usually wearing activewear, casual outfits and a minimal makeup look, Tammy went heavy on the glam this week as she played the part of TV star.

She poured her toned figure into a bright red gown by Melbourne-based fashion designer Effie Kats, flashing her midriff and tattoos.

Tammy slicked her blonde tresses back into a tight up-do, and opted for a dark smoky eye and bold nude lip to complete her new look.

‘My little shark fam. Getting to screen the first episode was so surreal. This one’s huge.’

It comes after the influencer appeared in a new trailer for Shark! on Wednesday.

In the clip, which was shared to Instagram, she explained how dicing with dangerous beasts was right up her alley.

The activewear designer was shown arriving by boat and greeting other contestants in the series, before sharing her excitement at taking part.

‘I’ve always had a fascination with sharks. I love the ocean. I just feel like I was a mermaid in another life,’ Tammy said.

‘I like getting scared, if you know what I mean. It’s exciting.

‘I’ve been diving with sharks before. I’m really interested in anything that, you know, makes me afraid. I love it. Is that like a red flag?’

Some commenters on the post found the premise of the show distasteful and were quick to share their thoughts.

‘Maybe not the best time to glamourise sharks for entertainment when a Perth family is grieving,’ said one person, referring to the fatal shark attack off Rottnest Island.

‘This show should be cancelled in respect for the many people recently who have lost their lives,’ said another.

They added: ‘There was one two days ago and a 10-year-old boy.’

‘This show was cancelled overseas. Tammy isn’t going to draw the people in,’ one more person wrote.

‘Capitalising on animals for profit. All this does is associate humans with food and disrupts their natural habitat,’ someone else commented.
