The angels who have long smiled on Robbie Williams’ bulging bank balance appear to have finally flown the nest – because I can reveal the pop superstar has been left nursing a jaw-dropping £11.9million loss on a Swiss mansion he bought from a golfing pal.
Robbie, 52, splashed £26.6million on the sprawling estate in the ultra-exclusive village of Vandoeuvres, near Geneva, in December 2020, buying it from wealthy businessman Nicolas Brunschwig.
The pair sealed the deal over a round on the fairways at the prestigious Golf Club de Geneve – reportedly without lawyers or estate agents.
Despite drawing up plans to transform the property with a lavish renovation and new swimming pool, Robbie abandoned the project and snapped up a different mansion in Gstaad instead.
The unloved villa was quietly put back on the market in 2022 but sat gathering dust for years.
Now I can reveal that Robbie finally managed to offload it for £14.7million – leaving him £11.9 million out of pocket before renovation costs, taxes and fees are even taken into account.
Swiss property insiders have described the deal as catastrophic. One said: ‘I haven’t seen such a bad deal in a long time. Nothing justified the £26.6million paid at the time.’
Another added: ‘Properties were bought at inflated prices by people who received poor advice. The absence of an estate agent during the original sale likely played a major role.’
