Have Geri Halliwell and former Formula One chief Christian Horner pulled a fast one by commenting on their own planning application?
I tease because a gushing letter from a ‘supporter’ has appeared saying their illegally built pergola and pizza oven are ‘beautifully made’ and villagers should be happy they can ‘afford’ the renovations.
The Horners cooked up a huge row with neighbours over ‘dodgy’ renovations at their Grade-II listed home, with retrospective planning permission for the pergola and oven refused by the local council.
Neighbours at their £9million estate said the couple were ruining the ‘tranquillity’ of the posh village with constant home improvements. One felt they were being ‘trolled’ after the Horners ‘wrapped fairy lights’ around the pergola.
Another sent in a complaint this month saying the Horners have put up ‘illegal cameras’ outside the property, which is ‘dodgy’.
Yet the couple have found their first supporter, with apparent inside knowledge.
The letter to West Northamptonshire Council says the pergola is ‘beautifully made’ with sympathetic materials.
But watchers question how the supporter knows this, as the only part of the pergola visible from a public space is the lead roof.
Their new ally slates objectors, saying protests prevent the Horners improving a historic property ‘to a standard that few could otherwise afford’.
