Sydney Sweeney’s Euphoria co-star Chloe Cherry has commented on scandal surrounding the star and her character’s storyline in the new series.
Porn star and actress Chloe, who nabbed a role on the show after starring in an adult spoof of the programme, weighed in on Sydney’s character Cassie’s storyline, in which she launches an OnlyFans career with shocking scenes.
Chloe, who plays heroin-addict prostitute Faye Valentine on the show, spoke to Refinery29 about Cassie’s storyline and said it feels ‘crazy as f**k’ that a character with Cassie’s life would ‘turn to sex work’, with episodes seeing her go nude.
She slammed the concept as she insisted people are turning to sex work due to financial strains: ‘The economy is horrible, that’s why people are turning to it’.
The comments about her storyline come as Sydney faces mounting scandals, including news that her cameo had been cut from The Devil Wears Prada 2 movie and criticism over ‘infancy roleplay’ in Cassie’s storyline.

Euphoria has drawn controversy for the third season’s sexually charged plot lines, including Cassie exploring a career as an OnlyFans model.
In the latest episode, titled America My Dream, fans were appalled by how far Cassie was willing to go, with it being the actress’ most X-rated scenes in her career yet.
The first episode of the show’s third season aired this month and fans criticised the hyper-sexual depictions of its female characters. The second episode featured Cassie dressed as a baby in a compromising sexual position, which Right-wing American podcaster Megyn Kelly called ‘sexualizing infancy’.
And Chloe appeared keen to offer her thoughts to the growing narrative.
The actress, who has starred in more than 200 adult films, has spoken in the past about turning to the porn industry and admitted she thinks would have gone to college and gotten a normal job if her father hadn’t died when she was eight.
She previously said she had a ‘really beautiful’ upbringing in a largely conservative neighborhood in Lancaster, Pennsylvania before his tragic passing.
Cherry moved to Miami to start a career in porn just a couple of days after she turned 18 in 2015 and later relocated to Los Angeles. By 2019, her films had received over 125million views on Pornhub.
Sydney has stirred up controversy with her current role in Euphoria, which has seen her take on ‘infancy roleplay’ while acting as OnlyFans model Cassie Howard
It was previously revealed that Sydney is a registered member of the Republican Party, having registered in Monroe County, Florida in June 2024 (pictured with her brother)
She began selling pornographic content on OnlyFans during the pandemic. Her account, which costs $4.99 per month, is still active, but she has since quit her career in adult films after nabbing her Euphoria role in 2022.
Given the fact she had resorted to porn, Chloe appeared irked by the concept that well-to-do Cassie would turn to OnlyFans despite having a plush life.
She said: ‘Like holy s***, that’s where we’re at in society? OnlyFans and sex work has become more normalised. But it’s literally only because of capitalism and the economy getting worse.’
Speaking about the need to do sex work rather than want, she continued: ‘The economy is horrible, that’s why people are turning to it. I really think OnlyFans is like a crazy, weird phenomenon in the 2020s we’ll look back on and be very confused by.’
Sydney has been plagued with controversy in recent months, as she has been dubbed a ‘MAGA Barbie’ for her controversial political views, while her Euphoria scenes are also coming under fire.
She had been due to feature in a three-minute scene in The Devil Wears Prada 2, in which she was styled by Emily Blunt’s character, Emily Charlton, yet it was scrapped because ‘it did not work structurally.’
That scene did not make the final cut – yet it’s been claimed that ‘the team working on the movie were ‘grateful for her participation’.
Sydney’s removal from the film after she became a political lightning rod when her family’s political views came to light.
Speculation over her political leanings began in 2022 when pictures emerged from her mother Lisa’s 60th birthday party with guests wearing red ‘MAGA’ hats reading: ‘Make Sixty Great Again’
Last year, left-wing critics spoke out when she appeared in an American Eagle denim campaign with the tagline: ‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans ,’ claiming the ad was pro-eugenics

Some were also wearing ‘Blue Lives Matter’ T-shirts in an apparently flippant response to the Black Lives Matter movement.
Sydney addressed the pictures with a tweet that read: ‘You guys this is wild. An innocent celebration for my mom’s milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions.’

She then told GQ: ‘Honestly I feel like nothing I say can help the conversation. It’s been turning into a wildfire and nothing I can say will take it back to the correct track.’
Last year, left-wing critics spoke out when she appeared in an American Eagle denim campaign with the tagline: ‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans,’ claiming the ad was pro-eugenics and supported far-Right politics.
Yet she has won praise from conservatives and also President Donald Trump himself, who said: ‘Oh, now I love her ad.
‘You’d be surprised at how many people are Republican. That’s one I wouldn’t have known, but I’m glad you told me that,’ he continued.
‘If Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican, I think her ad is fantastic.’
