Sydney Sweeney has sniped back at “Euphoria” critics and defended her controversial role on the show.
“It’s called… acting,” Sweeney, 28, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, May 31, alongside a carousel of photos taken on the set of the HBO series.
Several of the photos feature Sweeney posing provocatively and wearing little.
The actress, who plays Cassie Howard in the much-discussed show, has had a risque storyline that has seen Cassie join OnlyFans and have a raunchy sex scene with a movie star played by Homer Gere.
Sweeney has filmed many topless and near-nude scenes for season 3 of the series.
That’s not to say that she hasn’t had racy encounters in previous episodes.
Season 1 saw Cassie climax on a carousel ride in front of a group of onlookers, while Season 2 had Cassie lying nude on a bearskin rug.
But one person who’s in her corner is her boyfriend, Scooter Braun.
A source exclusively told Page Six that the music producer is fully supportive of the actress, including the racy scenes she’s become known for on HBO’s hit drama series.
“Scooter has absolutely no issue with Sydney’s more provocative scenes in ‘Euphoria’ or any of the work she does as an actress,” the insider said. “He fully understands that it’s part of her job and respects how dedicated she is to her craft.”
“Their relationship is very secure, and there’s a strong level of trust between them,” the source continued. “Scooter isn’t the type to feel threatened by her work or try to control what roles she takes on. He’s incredibly supportive of her career and proud of everything she’s accomplished.”
Braun, 44, appeared on the “Second Thought” podcast last week and said he was a fan of the controversial new season of “Euphoria.”
“I am catching it. I’m biased, I like it,” the music producer said, before cheekily adding, “[There’s] been an incredible performance by a certain actress.”
