Susan Sarandon stunned the crowd at Coachella on Friday as she made a surprise cameo during Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining gig.

The Thelma and Louise star, 79, played an older version of Carpenter during the performance, which saw her give a long monologue that left some fans irritated.

Sarandon looked like a clone of Carpenter as she sat behind the wheel of a car wearing a chic white outfit and blonde hair.

She was joined by actor Corey Fogelmanis for the segment. The theatrical bit was staged as a nostalgic drive-in theater, with Sarandon delivering her monologue from a vintage car while Fogelmanis portrayed a waiter trying to clock out for the night.

The set also featured a guest appearance by 1883 actor Sam Elliott and comedian Will Ferrell.

The cameo came following Sarandon’s claims that she was blacklisted from Hollywood over pro-Palestinian comments following Israel’s bombardment of Gaza.

Some fans took to social media following the performance to complain about Sarandon’s monologue dragging on, with one writing that it was, ‘long as hell.’

‘alr it was cute at first, now it’s time to wrap this monologue up…’ someone else chimed in.

‘ily Susan but that monologue is very long b.’

‘That lady talked for so long I almost had to turn off the damn live.’

‘It took FOREVER TO END PLEASE,’ another added.

Sarandon previously said she doubted she would ever be able to work in the United States again. And last month in a press conference in Barcelona, Spain, the actress said she had lost her talent agency representation over her remarks calling for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

‘I was fired by my agency specifically for marching and speaking out about Gaza — for asking for a ceasefire — and it became impossible for me to even be on television.’

‘I don’t know lately if it’s changed, [but] I couldn’t do any major film, anything connected with Hollywood,’ she continued.

Sarandon added her alleged Hollywood blacklisting was so extreme that even foreign filmmakers were being urged not to work with her.

‘This Italian director that just hired me, he was told not to hire me,’ Sarandon said. ‘So that’s still recently. He didn’t listen, but they had that conversation.’

The Rocky Horror Picture Show star caused controversy after she claimed Jewish people ‘are getting a taste of what it feels like to be Muslim’ amid the war with Hamas at a rally in New York City.

She then apologized for her remarks, saying that she had not planned to speak at the rally, but had been invited to address the crowd, and had intended to ‘highlight the urgent humanitarian crisis in Gaza.’

Meanwhile, elsewhere during Carpenter’s set, Elliot played a cop who pulled the younger Sabrina over, and questioned where she was driving to in an eerie segment.

Carpenter set the crowd ablaze as she delivered her hotly anticipated headline set on the first day of Coachella.

The 26-year-old sent viewers into a tizzy with see-through black lace bodysuit meant to look as though she had no underwear on beneath it.

She saved her head-turning look for the end of her performance, when she delivered a medley of her smash hit songs Juno, Espresso and Goodbye.

Fans were sent into paroxysms of excitement as she whirled through the numbers on a set meant to evoke the glitz and kitsch of Old Hollywood.

At the end of the show Carpenter was seen leaving in a vintage car.

The 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will light up the desert in Indio for two weekends.

They’ll be joined by an eclectic roster that spans genres and generations, including electronic act Anyma, Young Thug, Turnstile, David Byrne, FKA twigs, Addison Rae and Ethel Cain.

Legacy artists Iggy Pop, Moby, and Devo also earned spots on the packed schedule, while Radiohead appeared under a mysterious note teasing The Bunker Debut of Kid A Mnesia. The xx and The Strokes are both making a comeback to the festival.

The booking marks a major milestone for Bieber as he has never officially been billed at the festival, despite making surprise cameos during Ariana Grande, Daniel Caesar, Chance the Rapper, Tems and Wizkid’s sets.

Bieber’s most recent live performance was at the 2026 Grammys on February 1, while his last full concert took place at a private Roxy Theatre show on March 29.

The Baby hitmaker hasn’t headlined a major tour since cancelling his 49-date Justice World Tour after coming down with Ramsay Hunt syndrome.

In agreeing to perform at the Southern California-based festival, the two-time Grammy-winner was paid more than $10 million – surpassing musical icons Beyonce and Lady Gaga as the festival’s highest-compensated artist ever.

An insider told Rolling Stone that Bieber worked out his record Coachella payday directly with promoter Goldenvoice without the use of an agent.

‘It’s a groundbreaking move for a headliner, and it’s something he built entirely on his own,’ an insider close to the Daisies artist – who shares son Jack, one, with supermodel wife Hailey Bieber, 28 – told the outlet.

The source added, ‘Between headlining Coachella and the success of Swag, it’s clear this is the start of an exciting new era for Justin – one where he’s fully in the driver’s seat.’

For Karol G, it’s a long-awaited return. The Colombian superstar made her Coachella debut in 2022, but this will be her first major set behind her new album Tropicoqueta, released in June.

The milestone makes her the first Latina artist to lead the iconic Coachella stage.

Prices for weekend passes at this year’s event ran from $549 to $1,299.

The headliners for last year’s Coachella were Lana Del Rey, Tyler, the Creator, and Doja Cat.
