It’s 2023 all over again.
In a rematch of two years ago, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs will face off in Super Bowl LIX to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
The Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills in Sunday’s AFC championship game by a score of 32-29. This will mark their third straight Super Bowl after winning in both 2023 and 2024.
They’ll face off against the Eagles again after having defeated the Philadelphia team in 2023. The Chiefs triumphed over the San Francisco 49ers last year. They also won in 1970 and in 2020.
The Eagles beat the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship game Sunday by a score of 55-23, to land their spot in the Super Bowl.
This marks the second time in three years that the Eagles have made it to the game, and the fifth time in franchise history. The Eagles have one Super Bowl win to their credit, in 2018.
If Kansas City triumphs at the game, it would become the first team to win three straight Super Bowls. (By the way, in case you were wondering: Yes, Taylor Swift was on hand Sunday to root on her boyfriend, Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce.)
Super Bowl 59 is scheduled to be played Feb. 9 at the the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. The game will broadcast live on Fox.
Kendrick Lamar will perform during the halftime show, accompanied by SZA. Jay-Z and his Roc Nation company are returning to produce the halftime show.
In pregame entertainment, Jon Batiste is set to sing the National Anthem, Trombone Shorty and Lauren Daigle will sing “America the Beautiful,” and Ledisi will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
