A Sunrise panellist has slammed the morning breakfast show after she was issued a stunning ‘ultimatum’ that limited her value, and ultimately drove her to quit.
Amanda Rose, who regularly appeared on the show’s Hot Topics segment, let her feelings be known when she took Sunrise to task on the weekend for demanding she remain ‘exclusive’ to the show, even though she was unpaid for her services.
‘After three years on Hot Topics, unpaid, I was given a choice: be exclusive to them, still unpaid, or have my appearances pulled back. I chose to walk away,’ she shared to Instagram on Saturday.
‘Because being grateful for an opportunity doesn’t mean accepting an ultimatum that limits your value elsewhere,’ she continued.
‘Small business owners hear ‘but you’ll get exposure’ far too often. Exposure isn’t a substitute for respect. Know your worth.’

‘Everyone loves small business because it helps them connect with the community. But when it comes to walking the walk, it’s another story – whether it’s politics, media organisations, businesses in general,’ she kicked off the lengthy video.
‘Recently, I was told, “Hey, I noticed that you’re doing other media” – which, news flash, you all know I have been for three years. “We would like you to be exclusive.”‘
Then Rose dropped the clanger: her exclusivity came without compensation.
‘Essentially, I was told, “Be exclusive with us unpaid, or we’ll pull back your appearance.” It’s an ultimatum.
‘The audacity of wanting me to be exclusive, then limits my ability to build my profile elsewhere. So the commercial benefit sits with a larger organisation and I’m carrying all the risk,’ she continued.
‘Being a small business and an advocate for women, it was my absolute duty to walk the walk and say, “Excuse me, huh?”‘
She ended her mic drop with the Nancy Sinatra classic These Boots Are Made For Walkin’.
Rose then posted clips of her Sunrise appearances on social media that had racked up massive views, before delivering a lesson in business.

It wasn’t long before Rose’s post was met with rapturous online applause, with one of the network’s own former stars weighing in on her decision. ‘Bravo,’ wrote My Kitchen Rules star Ash Pollard alongside a clapping hands emoji.

Rose delivered a parting swipe worth its weight in gold.
“‘Sure, you can have your exclusivity with someone else. I quit,'” she said to the strains of the *NSync’s Bye Bye Bye.
It wasn’t long before Rose’s post was met with rapturous online applause, with one of the network’s own former stars weighing in on her decision.
‘Bravo,’ wrote My Kitchen Rules star Ash Pollard alongside a clapping hands emoji.
‘Queen behaviour,’ added model and prominent age-positivity advocate Luisa Dunn beside two crown emojis.
‘OMG this is the best smackdown,’ wrote one more.
Channel Seven responded to Rose’s brutal takedown with a statement.
‘Like many commentators, Amanda’s appearances were unpaid,’ said a Channel Seven spokesperson.
‘She was absolutely welcome to continue appearing on other morning programs and remain part of the broader rotation of Sunrise guests, just not weekly.
‘She chose what worked best for her and we respect that.’
