Strictly Come Dancing professional Alexis Warr has announced she has separated from her husband after almost eight years of marriage.

The US dancer, 26, married her childhood sweetheart Jake Burton in 2018, but in an update shared to Instagram on Tuesday she confirmed they have split, just months after she made her debut on Strictly.

Apologising for ‘being MIA recently’ she told fans: ‘After much consideration and with the greatest respect for each other, Jake and I have made the decision to separate.’

‘Whilst this hasn’t been an easy decision, it has been reached with a huge amount of love and we’re each other’s biggest cheerleaders.’

Alexis added that the pair planned to navigate the rest of their ‘life change’ together in private.

Alexis is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and married paediatric dental resident Jake in November 2018, at the Provo City Center Temple.

The US dancer has been performing since the age of six and first achieved fame by winning US show So You Think You Can Dance in 2022.

Alexis dedicated her victory to her mum, who was battling brain cancer.

She became the first ballroom dance contestant to win the show upon being crowned America’s Favourite Dancer.

She went on to join the professional lineup of Dancing With The Stars in 2024 before becoming a pro on Strictly last year, where she was partnered with TikTok star George Clarke.

Her Instagram account is still full of posts dedicated to life with Jake, who she proudly announced in October had passed his dental school exams.

‘Couldn’t be more grateful for his heart, his drive, and the way he supports and loves me through it all,’ she gushed alongside Insta photos of the two exploring London during her Strictly debut.

In November last year Alexis posted a photo of Jake’s proposal as she celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary.

‘Happy anniversary to the absolute love of my life. 7 years of being your wife has been an absolute privilege,’ she wrote.

Alexis recently wrapped back to back live tours for Strictly, performing a gruelling run of dates for both the Live Arena Tour followed by the Pro Tour.

It’s also been confirmed that the dancer will be returning to Strictly for the 2026 series amid the huge professional dancer cull as the BBC show undergoes its biggest shakeup since it began.

Dianne Buswell, Amy Dowden, Johannes Radebe, Aljaž Škorjanec and Vito Coppola have all been confirmed to return alongside Nancy Xu, Katya Jones, Julian Caillon, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Jowita Przystał, Kai Widdrington and Lauren Oakley.
