Stars Taika Waititi, Mia Wasikiowska and Richard Roxburgh will feature in Stan’s Original Film Fing!
Based on the beloved children’s novel by David Walliams, the fantasy-comedy is currently filming at the Screen Queensland Studios in Brisbane.
Also featuring newcomer Iona Bell, the spectacular family movie follows the adventures of a little girl who wants a ‘Fing’…which leads her and her parents in a search that leads them to the ‘wildest of wild jungles’.
A UK-Australian co-production the new film got underway last month and co-stars Little Britain’s Walliams, Penelope Wilton from Downtown Abby, World on Fire actor Blake Harrison and veteran Aussie actress Robyn Nevin.
The film apparently will follow the plot of of Walliams best selling illustrated book for children.
It centres on the character of Myrtle (Bell) the daughter of doting parents Mr and Mrs Meek (played by Blake Harrison and Mia Wasikiowska) who deny their beloved child nothing.

What Myrtle wants is a ‘Fing’, only trouble is they don’t know where to find one.
Their quest takes them into the jungle where do discover the rare creature only to find that a ‘Fing’ is a monster.
Meanwhile, the character of The Viscount (played by Taika Waititi) has his own plans for the Fing – which puts him on a collision course with Myrtle and her mum and dad.
Other characters featured in the cast include the head master, played by Walliams, who had difficulty managing the precocious Myrtle, and the Bank Manager (Richard Roxburgh) who becomes a thorn in the side of the Viscount.
‘I was really thinking of my (now teenage) daughters when the role came to me,’ Taika said in a statement abut his role in the new film.
‘I can’t wait to unleash this absolutely mental Viscount character on audiences. It’s dark, it’s weird, it’s me!’
Walliams added: ‘Fing! is such a fun and visual story with so many flights of fancy and I can’t wait to see it come to life on screen.
‘To have Taika join the cast is absolutely thrilling as well. He’s a fantastic comedy performer, writer and director and I know he’ll have enormous fun playing the villainous role of the Viscount.’

Walliams, who has sold over 60 million books, not only co-stars in the film but wrote the screenplay alongside Veep screenwriter Kevin Cecil.
Fing! is directed by Australian filmmaker Jeffrey Walker whose credits include Stan’s fantasy streamung hit The Portable Door as well as the Disney+ action-adventure The Artful Dodger.
An official Australian-UK co-production the film is being made by London’s King Bert Productions, under the development of Sky (UK) and Queensland’s Story Bridge Films.
No release date has been announced for Fing! which will be seen theatres courtesy of Transmission films.
It will also be seen on Stan and Sky (UK).
