Karl Stefanovic has attracted his fair share of haters since launching a podcast that platforms almost exclusively right-wing voices.

And it seems one of those critics is his brother-in-law Josh Yarbrough.

Josh, 38, who was a groomsman at Karl’s lavish Mexican wedding to his older sister Jasmine Yarbrough in 2018, was spotted lurking in the ‘likes’ of an Instagram reel harshly criticising Karl’s new venture.

This comes after Karl, 51, revealed on Thursday that his 42-year-old wife was ‘upset’ following his departure from Channel Nine after he launched a scorched-earth attack on his TV career.

The reel in question was a video posted by Australian comedian Lewis Garnham in the wake of Karl’s controversial interview with British far-right agitator Tommy Robinson, which aired on his independent podcast The Karl Stefanovic Show.

‘It’s so good that Karl Stefanovic’s name is Karl Stefanovic. It’s so good that this Aussie larrikin has just done an interview with Tommy Robinson, the international symbol of anti-immigration and racism… his name is Stefanovic,’ Garnham said with a laugh.

‘In Australia, everyone except the Aboriginal people are immigrants, or descendants of immigrants, and it’s not hard to figure that out, especially for you, all you have to do is read your name.’

Stefanovic’s family is descended from Slavic-German immigrants.

Not only had Jasmine’s little brother liked the post under his Instagram handle @Yarbino, but a closer inspection of his social media shows he does not follow Karl.

Indeed, he also appears to have unfollowed both Jasmine and their other sister, Jade Yarbrough.

Josh, who lives in the United States, is married to Los Angeles hairstylist Jordynn Quilenderino, a descendant of Mexican and Filipino immigrants who is outspoken against the country’s divisive Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

While attempting to contact Josh for comment on this story, the Daily Mail spoke to Ms Quilenderino on Friday.

When this reporter mentioned that Josh had ‘liked’ Garnham’s satirical post about Karl, she audibly scoffed but did not comment further.

Instead, she said she would ask if Josh would like to be interviewed. She noted she ‘can’t guarantee he’ll want to talk’.

Ms Quilenderino has in the past shared an Instagram post supporting the abolition of ICE, and offered $100 haircuts to anyone who brings in a bag of non-perishable groceries ‘for our LA neighbours who are unable to shop due to the threat of ICE’.

ICE, under President Donald Trump’s rule, has been increasingly targeting and incarcerating immigrants across America in recent years.

‘I’m proud to be a granddaughter of immigrants from the Philippines and Mexico, and I choose my heritage and helping the people in my community in every single lifetime,’ she wrote.

Her post was ‘liked’ by her supportive Australian husband.

The Daily Mail has yet to receive a response from Josh, who has built a name for himself in America as the creative director of slick advertising campaigns under his business Who Dat Boi.

The Yarbrough siblings grew up in Queensland and were always incredibly close, and until recent years, Josh was a fixture in Jasmine’s social media pictures.

Karl was welcomed as a member of the Yarbrough family when he began dating Jasmine in 2017, shortly after he left his ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn in 2016.

Now, Josh’s social media activity hints at the possibility that the Yarbroughs’ close bond is under strain. And it has come to light as Karl’s controversial new podcasting and YouTube venture hits peak momentum, following his exit from Channel Nine and the Today show last month after 26 years with the network.

With his contract at Nine due to run out at the end of the year, it’s understood Karl had negotiated being able to start his independent Karl Stefanovic Show.

He promptly platformed people who fall on the right side of politics, including Barnaby Joyce, Pauline Hanson and Holly Valance.

Nine last week confirmed Karl’s time was up, saying both parties had agreed it was ‘no longer possible for him to continue hosting Today at the same time as his independent podcast’.

‘While Karl and Nine had previously agreed he would leave Today at the end of this year, they have subsequently decided he will leave the network immediately,’ the Nine Entertainment statement said.

He has come under fire for allowing his podcast guests to share their views with little questioning or pushback as the interviewer.

In his since-deleted Tommy Robinson episode, the guest asked his opinion on recently ousted British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Karl responded by describing him as a ‘w**ker’.

Some TV insiders have questioned whether he truly agrees with the views of his guests, or whether it was simply a strategy to make money amid his commercial television career’s demise.

Platforming anti-immigration spokespeople is certainly a U-turn for Karl, who in 2020 defended Channel Nine from a Media Diversity Australia report that its on-air news talent was overwhelmingly ‘Anglo-Saxon’ and was failing its racially diverse viewers.

On Twitter, now X, Stefanovic wrote, ‘I’m not sure how diverse you need to be to qualify for diverse but I’m of Yugoslav-German and British heritage with a surname Stefanovic.

‘I used to be called a w*g at school. I’m proud of my heritage. I’m pretty sure it’s diverse and Nine have always supported that.’

It’s understood Karl is in Europe sheltering from the fallout of his parting ways with Nine – and it’s unknown whether Jasmine is by his side, but he has hinted she is not coping well with his fall from grace.

He broke down in tears during a new episode of The Karl Stefanovic Show, released on Thursday, as he chatted with his latest guest, British media firebrand Piers Morgan.

The interview took place aboard the 56-metre Italian superyacht Taiba, a floating palace complete with a swimming pool and cinema that costs approximately $500,000 a week to charter, plus expenses.

He spoke with Morgan about the impact recent events were having on Jasmine.

‘She puts up with a lot. Her finding out this stuff and having to deal with me, because I’m a lot,’ he said.

‘I really do work hard and I’m away a bit, and she knows what I’m trying to do with this podcast. So I’m doing this, and some radio, I’m doing it for the family, but she’s on her own a lot,’ he said.

‘And for me to hear her upset, it was the hardest thing.’

While Josh no longer appears to follow Jasmine, he still follows accounts linked to their Brisbane-based mother Cheryl and father Bob Yarbrough, a packaging industry magnate.

Josh and his wife visited Australia earlier this year, and posted pictures from Byron Bay and Sydney. There was no sign that they had spent time with Jasmine and Karl.

It’s a far cry from previous years, when Josh was frequently present in Jasmine’s pictures posted when she lived in Los Angeles overseeing her now-defunct shoe label, Mara & Mine, a joint venture with her best friend Tamie Ingham.

The Daily Mail contacted Karl and Jasmine’s manager, Sharon Finnigan, for comment.
