Shakira raised eyebrows among her fans when she was pictured getting cozy with Ferran Torres on Sunday, after the soccer sensation scored Spain’s winning goal against Argentina at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.

The 49-year-old Colombian singer presented Torres, 26, with the Man of the Match award alongside comedian Kevin Hart, 47.

As she rubbed shoulders with the lauded player, fans took to social media to share snarky posts referencing her ex-boyfriend, soccer retiree Gerard Pique, 39.

Fans surmised that Pique might be feeling bitter as Shakira put on a chummy display with the younger, good-looking Torres.

The exes were together for 11 years before their contentious, public-facing breakup in June 2022.

One person wrote on X, ‘Shakira handing him MOTM… Torres [is] winning on and off the pitch tonight.’

Another quipped, ‘Torres won her heart… he’s gonna eat good.’

This is Shakira’s fourth time partnering with the global event – surpassing her ex Pique’s three times playing in the quadrennial tournament.

He played for Spain in 2010, 2014, and 2018.

Meanwhile, the pop star first performed at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, South Africa in 2010, and Brazil in 2014 before becoming nearly synonymous with the 2026 games.

The exes’ split came when the Whenever, Wherever hitmaker allegedly discovered that her longtime beau had been cheating with now-girlfriend Clara Chia.

In a 2024 interview with GQ Spain, Shakira detailed how her twelfth studio album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, helped her cope with the breakup.

‘For many months after my separation I had been silent, trying to begin my mourning, but I couldn’t really begin to grieve until I started writing music,’ she divulged.

‘It was my way of healing. And it continues to be. Grief is a process that is not linear. It is full of peaks and valleys,’ she added at the time.

The mom of two made rare comments about the heartbreak she suffered from her split with Pique in a June cover story for People.

‘Behind every experience in life, there’s always a lesson, and we have to be grateful for all those lessons, even for the people that leave you with scars,’ she shared with the publication.

She added that those lessons ‘just make us better.’

The star also declared that she feels stronger now, noting, ‘I always thought that I was more fragile or weaker than what life proved me to be.’

And the songstress made comments about her link to the World Cup, sharing, ‘Every World Cup is really magical, and I think this one is going to be all about bringing people together in this very sensitive moment in time, socially and politically.’

The World Cup is where she met Pique in 2010, when she sang Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) at the closing ceremony.

‘I have this connection with [soccer] that seems unbreakable,’ she said.
