Shailene Woodley’s stylist, Karla Welch, addressed the brutal criticism over the actress’ polarizing look at the 2026 Emmys.

Welch hit back at the haters with a message she posted on Threads Tuesday, writing, “Love or hate something fine but it’s an opinion and it can even be a conversation but being super rude and mean and taking glee from it, well that says a lot more about the mouths it’s coming from. 🖤.”

Reactions to the post were mixed.

One Threads user defended Welch, explaining, “The whole point of fashion is to play and try new things and be adventurous! most are too scared to! most importantly, she looked so happy and at ease, and like she was having so much fun and feeling like the best version of herself!”

But one critic noted, “You need to own you made her look bad. She trusted YOU and you fell short.”

Welch — who also styles A-listers like Olivia Wilde, Karlie Kloss, Sarah Paulson and both Justin and Hailey Bieber — doesn’t appear bothered by the chatter.

She proudly posted a pic of the “Divergent’ star on the Emmys red carpet on social media Wednesday alongside a picture which playfully read, “Trigger Warning.”

“We ♥️ pppiccioli 🌹,” she also wrote on Threads about the look, referencing Balenciaga creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli.

Woodley wore a plunging periwinkle top and beaded gold pants from Balenciaga’s Fall/Winter 2026 runway at this year’s Emmys, which she paired with burgundy opera gloves and a gemstone Howl Jewelry necklace.

She tied her hair back in a slick-straight low ponytail parted in the middle to show off the colorful statement necklace.

Woodley, 34, received intense criticism for the look online, with one Instagram user noting, “She clearly did something to make her stylist mad at her 😭.”

Another added, “When you stop at Goodwill and get dressed at a gas station,” while another commented, “No friends or mirrors apparently.”

Woodley — who won an Emmy this year for her guest starring role on “Paradise” — later changed her designer blue top to a loose black graphic T-shirt for the Emmys after-parties.

She also engaged in a “deep” conversation with Olivia Munn at the awards show, Us Weekly reported. Woodley and Munn, 46, both dated NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers, 42, recently claimed on the “Not Just Football” podcast that Woodley asked to have sex with another man after the two were already engaged.

He alleged, “She said yes. … A couple days after that she tells me, ‘Before we get married I gotta go f–k this guy.’”

But Woodley appears to be taking the headlines in stride. During a night out in Los Angeles on Sunday, she laughed off a question about Rodgers’ claims when approached by a reporter.
