We awoke to the news that one of our favorite celeb-owned skin care lines is closing — Scarlett Johansson’s The Outset.
A statement on the brand’s website thanked supporters and announced the unexpected closure, saying, “After an incredible journey, The Outset has made the decision to wind down operations.”
So, before the bestsellers are gone for good, we’re scooping up our favorites, including our go-to brightening serum and the Lip Oasis Glossy Treatment that one of our editors said gave her “ScarJo’s enviable big pout.” Our fellow Outset fans, shop ’em while you can.
When we caught up with the mega star last year at a launch party for the Total Clarity Dark Spot Serum, there was a genuine buzz among beauty editors about its gentle efficacy. We’ll be sloughing away our sadness with this caffeine-infused scrub that leaves skin smoother and brighter in just one minute.
Another top-rated product, the Restorative Niacinamide Night Cream is an evening formula that helps counter the signs of aging for a smoother, more radiant complexion. We’re definitely going to miss the science-driven, clean skin care label for its accessible price points, too.
“Leaves your skin glowing,” reads one of the nearly all five-star reviews on this lightweight multi-tasker oil, especially handy as temperatures drop outdoors and skin needs more moisture.
“Don’t close down, please,” wrote one fan, echoing similar disappointment from devotees on The Outset’s Instagram.
This vitamin-infused eye cream also earned very positive reviews; one shopper noted that it’s “great for sensitive skin.” Another wrote that it brightened and smoothed the fine lines around their eyes, adding, “The formula is lightweight and absorbs nicely, leaving my under eyes plump with hydration and moisturized.”
