Actress Ione Skye, best known for her role in the 1989 teen romcom “Say Anything,” details her numerous relationships with men and women in her memoir “Say Everything.”
Skye, 54, embarked on her first serious relationship with Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis when she was just 16 and he was 24.
But before Kiedis, she had unsuccessfully tried to woo Keanu Reeves on the set of the 1986 flick “River’s Edge.”
She also had a delicious makeout scene with River Phoenix on the set of “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon,” but that never developed any further as he was dating Martha Plimpton.
When Skye finally did meet Kiedis, fresh out of rehab for heroin addiction, she writes that their chemistry was immediate.
“We were instantly full-blown, instantly emeshed,” she notes.
However, Kiedis’ post-rehab sobriety didn’t last long.
“Right away, he started disappearing on binges – slow-motion heroin rampages that lasted for three days or so…the binges terrified me,” she writes, adding that sometimes she would spend entire nights driving and looking for him at his usual drug haunts.
Skye began to pull away while filming “Say Anything” and even developed feelings for her costar John Cusack, although nothing ever happened.
(Skye and Cusack did sleep together many years later, after her divorce, but “now I knew we were meant to be in love only in the movies,” per the autobiography.)
When she turned 18, Skye met “the first great love of my life,” Beastie Boys member, Adam Horovitz.
The two met through her brother, actor and model Donovan Leitch and Skye says their first kiss “was terribly romantic.”
The two married when Skye was just 21 and Horovitz 25.
However much they loved each other and were best friends, Skye admits she had a problem with monogamy.
“I was a serial cheater,” she writes, surmising that it was an “obvious sign of my deep insecurity and need for validation,” and believed it would stop with Horovitz.
Unfortunately, it did not and she explored her attraction to women.
Affairs with model Alice Temple, Madonna’s ex-lover Ingrid Casares and Jenny Shimizu followed.
Skye writes that Shimizu was a “masterful lover, sometimes a dominant one. She didn’t use whips or handcuff me to the bed, she just held this vibe,” she said, adding her sexual safe word was “London.”
The two used sex toys, which left Skye feeling “needy and devoted … but Jenny didn’t want me to be her dog. She left shortly thereafter for a modeling job and never came back to me, except as a good friend,” she writes.
Eventually Horovitz, who knew of his wife’s affairs, tired of them and the two split.
A brief relationship with furniture designer David Netto resulted in the birth of their daughter, Kate, in 2001 but Skye would find true happiness with Australian musician Ben Lee, 46.
The two married in 2008 and welcomed a daughter named Goldie the following year.
