Savannah Guthrie is grappling with a harrowing family mystery amid the suspected abduction of her mother Nancy.
It was revealed on Monday morning that the 84-year-old mother of the Today show anchor, 54, was last seen on Saturday night near her home in Tucson, Arizona.
New haunting details about her disappearance have come to light, with investigators believing that the elderly woman was abducted from her own bed.
According to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanons, aspects of the scene at her home prompted ‘grave concern.’ He explained at a news conference that Nancy ‘is very limited in her mobility. She did not just walk out of there.’
Savannah grew up in Tucson, where her mom Nancy has been reported missing.
Amid the shock news of Nancy’s disappearance, Daily Mail takes a look at the Guthrie family tree and those closest to her.

Savannah often spoke of the close relationship she shares with her mother Nancy.
Despite a high-flying career that took her from law school at Georgetown to Washington, D.C., and New York, Savannah has never lost her deep-rooted connection to Nancy, who’s lived in Arizona for over 50 years.
‘By far, my favorite part about Tucson is family,’ Savannah shared on the Today show in November.
‘When people ask me, “Where are you from?” I’m always proud when I say, “Tucson, Arizona,”‘ Savannah explained. ‘I grew up there, went to college there, my mom still lives there, and honestly, a part of me has really never left.’
‘Her mom is her world,’ a source recently told People of their bond. ‘Savannah and her mom are obsessed with each other.’
‘Nancy beams whenever she talks about Savannah,’ the insider added.
‘My mom is an amazing and noble woman,’ Savannah told Today.com in 2012, when Nancy celebrated her 70th birthday.
‘She inspires everyone who knows her. She is whip smart, funny, full of integrity and wisdom. She also has the best sense of adventure. She’s always up for something fun.’

And in 2018, she shared tender memories of watching her mom as a grandmother to her kids.
She told co-anchor Hoda Kotb on Today, ‘I feel like watching my mom now with my kids is so profound. Because I’m seeing the mom that she must have been with me, just the everyday joys.’
She added that Nancy was ‘so good at playing with them. I appreciate her even more than I thought possible because I see her spunkiness and her quirks.’
In 2022, for Nancy’s 80th birthday, Savannah paid tribute to her ‘daring and adventurous’ mom.
‘She has met unthinkable challenges in her life with grit, without self-pity, with determination, and always, always with unshakeable faith. She loves us, her family, fiercely, and her selflessness and sacrifice for us, her steadfastness and her unmovable confidence is the reason any of us grew up to do anything,’ she proudly shared on air.
Nancy mysteriously disappeared Saturday night in what authorities in Tucson are now investigating as an abduction.
When a congregant at the Guthrie’s local church called family members on Sunday to report that Nancy was not there, the family rushed to her house and searched for the mother-of-three, before reporting her missing at around noon, TODAY reports.
It now remains unclear whether Nancy had been targeted because she is Savannah’s mother.
Father Charles Guthrie
Born in Melbourne, Australia, as the youngest of three siblings, Savannah spent her earliest years abroad due to her father Charles Guthrie’s work.
The family relocated to Tucson when she was just two years old.
Her father died of a heart attack in 1988, when she was 16.
The sudden death left her devastated and ‘cracked open’ her family.
Speaking to People in 2024, the broadcaster said that she thinks about her father ‘all the time’ and she has previously said that she will always carry the grief of his death.
‘He was deep and complicated, and he didn’t talk to us like little kids,’ she reflected.
‘He told us things that I didn’t understand at the time but later would remember, long after he died.’
Savannah has talked openly about her grief too and has described her experience as a ‘lifelong process.’
‘There’s before my dad died and there’s after, and it’s profound,’ she told Brooks Nadar during a podcast appearance.

‘There’s different moments of grief, but I remember thinking even then when I was a late teenager, I always thought, I have a cup of grief now.
‘It’s like a cup of water and I’m going to spend the rest of my life emptying this cup. And sometimes it’s coming out in buckets. And sometimes it’s a little sprinkle and sometimes I can just hold it, and nothing comes out. But every last drop of this cup will not be empty until I leave this world.’
Losing a parent so suddenly strengthened her relationship with God.
Writing in her 2024 book, Mostly What God Does: Reflections on Seeking and Finding His Love Everywhere, Savannah said that she puts trust in God that He has a plan.
‘In that moment, that plan can be shocking and devastating and earth-shattering,’ she penned.
‘My father’s death was all of those things for me and for my family. But that over time, with the healing of time, but mostly with the grace of God, you can kind of come to terms and come to understand.
‘And through faith, believe not only that God knows what he’s doing, that death is not his plan, but that through faith, we have hope.’
Savannah has fond memories of her father, and has often paid tribute to him.
In 2020 she shared a tended childhood snap with her dad, writing in the caption, ‘Missing you always and ever’
In 2020 she shared a tended childhood snap with her dad, writing in the caption, ‘Missing you always and ever.’
‘My father was a seemingly unlikely mix of qualities: always strong, sometimes terrifying, loyal to the end, and disarmingly gentle and tender when it counted,’ she wrote on Today.com in 2014, when she was expecting her first baby with husband Mike Feldman.
‘He was also tall, affectionate and funny; he had that personality that people describe as “lighting up the room.”‘
Savannah voiced her wish that their child would not only inherit her husband’s ‘quick wit, his peaceful disposition, his kindness,’ but also her father’s integrity and morals.
Sister Annie Guthrie
Savannah is very close to her older sister Annie, who had reportedly just seen their mother for dinner hours before she was reported missing.
Nancy went to dinner with Annie and spent the evening playing mahjong, before she vanished from her home.
Annie has made a number of appearances on Today since her younger sister started co-anchoring the show in 2012.
‘Annie’s like the blood going through my veins,’ Savannah shared in a 2017 segment. ‘She’s always been there, all my life.’

Meanwhile Annie said they were ‘like the sun and the moon.’
‘Her sorrows are my sorrows, and her successes are my successes,’ she explained.
Savannah went on to call Annie ‘thoughtful and reflective.’
Brother Camron Guthrie
Aside from Annie, Savannah has an older brother, Camron Guthrie.
Camron is a retired F-16 pilot.
Savannah spoke about Camron’s career and retirement in an August 2018 Instagram post.
‘I have never been more proud of my big brother,’ she shared.
‘He has flown for our country for 26 years, and continues to serve proudly in the ‘Green Mountain Boys’ — the Vermont Air National Guard. He is the pride of our family and one of this country’s finest.’

Husband Michael Feldman
The NBC broadcaster is married to public relations and communications consultant Michael Feldman, 57.
The pair share daughter Vale, 11, and son Charley, nine.
They initially began dating in 2009 before tying the knot in Guthrie’s hometown of Tucson in 2014.
The journalist met the former Democratic political adviser at his 40th birthday party which she ‘crashed,’ attending as her gal pal’s plus one.
She and Feldman hit it off and they began dating after he sent her an email ‘a few days later.’
Last year she revealed that she had a very rocky start with Feldman.
During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Savannah said that she broke up with Feldman before he proposed.
The TV star had waited five-and-a-half years for him to pop the question and she was frustrated it was not happening. Savannah did not want to wait another day.

So while on vacation in the Turks and Caicos, she told Feldman she was done which led to heartbreak and tears.
Little did she know, Feldman had an engagement ring in his pocket that he was ready to propose with. Later in the day, he ended up getting on one knee and asking her for her hand in marriage, which gave her the shock of her life.
Savannah also shared that at the time, her own mother told her they ‘need to [get married] or don’t. Like just do something.’

Savannah and her husband welcomed daughter Vale, 11, on August 13, 2014, five months after saying ‘I do.’
At the time she proudly shared that the baby had ‘blue eyes, a little bit of blondish hair and the chubbiest cheeks you’ve ever seen.’
During her pregnancy, Savannah wrote on her blog about wanting a less common baby name, calling it ‘an ever-ready conversation piece.’

Two years after she gave birth to their daughter, Savannah welcomed son Charles, nine, on December 8, 2016.
He is named after her late father.
‘He’s happy and Vale loves him, which was a big relief,’ the proud mom shared in a video shown on Today, just a few days after Charles’ birth.
After opening up about her fertility struggles, Savannah affectionately dubbed her son a ‘medical miracle.’
Sharing her parenting approach on Today in 2018, she said, ‘I think the best thing I can do for Vale and Charley is to try to be a better person so that I can just show that person.’
‘You know, when you’re home, there’s nowhere to hide. You just are who you are. So you better get it straight and spend that time looking inward and doing your best.’

Savannah’s ex-husband: Mark Orchard
While she is happily married now, Savannah felt like a ‘failure’ after her first marriage to BBC journalist Mark Orchard ended in divorce after four years in 2009.
Last month, she reflected on her heartbreak on the debut episode of Hoda Kotb’s new YouTube series, Joy Rides.
Speaking to Kotb, she remembered how the end of her marriage felt like her dreams were ‘falling apart.’
‘I was in my 30s. I felt old, but I now see that I was pretty young, and I was sad about it,’ Savannah recalled.

‘And I was also starting a new job at a place called NBC and trying really hard to make my way and make my little dream come true while other dreams were falling apart.
‘And it made me have to really dig deep, and I felt like a failure.’
Despite her heartbreak, the split helped Savannah form a closer connection with her faith.
‘I realized I didn’t have to be perfect to be loved by God,’ she continued. ‘I didn’t even have to be close because I was definitely a failure.’
Savannah previously said that her divorce from Orchard took her ‘years to recover.’
