Savannah Guthrie is asking for prayers amid the ongoing search to find her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie.

On Tuesday, the Today show host took to social media to ask her many fans and followers to “Please pray” for the safe return of her 84-year-old mother, who was reported missing on Sunday and whose disappearance is now being treated as a possible kidnapping or abduction.

“We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. We believe in goodness. we believe in humanity. Above all, we believe in Him,” wrote Guthrie in the post. “Thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. Raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.

“We need you,” she continued. “’He will keep in perfect peace those whose hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.’ A verse of Isaiah for all time for all of us. Bring her home.”

The investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts is now entering its third day. She was confirmed to be missing by authorities in Arizona over the weekend, her disappearance now being treated as a crime scene after local police said she taken from her home against her will in a “possible kidnapping or abduction” before her family reported her missing on Sunday. Her cell phone and car were left behind.

During a press conference on Monday, Sheriff Chris Nanos of Arizona’s Pima County said Nancy Guthrie did not leave her Tucson residence on her own, noting that she is of great sound mind but has mobility issues and is in urgent need of her daily medications.

“Right now, we don’t see this as a search mission as much as we do as a crime scene,” he said. “This is not dementia-related. She is sharp as a tack. The family wants everybody to know this. … She is very limited in her mobility, we know she didn’t just walk out of there, that we know. There were other things at the scene that indicate that she did not leave on her own.”

The investigation has full cooperation from the Guthrie family.

Nanos said it’s a “race against time,” noting possible DNA evidence was found at the crime scene. “We took some samples that we hope will have enough profile of a DNA profile that gives us some identification of what we’re looking at,” he added. Those results could take days to process.

Nancy Guthrie, grandmother and mother of three adult children, was last seen in the Catalina Foothills area of Arizona on Saturday night at approximately 9:45 p.m. local time. A family member reported her missing on Sunday around noon local time.

“I can’t think of the last time where in the middle of the night in someone’s bed, an 84-year-old woman disappeared on us,” Nanos said on NBC Nightly News during a later Monday interview.

She is 5-foot-5 and 150 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes and is described as having some physical ailments (photographed, above). She has appeared as a guest on Today in the past. In 2023, Savannah Guthrie spoke about her mom in a feature titled “Lessons Learned from Moms” and also paid tribute to her mom on the show on her 80th birthday in 2022.

Savannah Guthrie has been absent from the Today show this week, but released a statement on behalf of her family Monday that said, “I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at (520) 351-4900.”

Law enforcement is asking the public to come forward with any information that could pertain to the case and is encouraging anyone who knows of Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts to drop her somewhere safe. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Pima County sheriff’s department at 520-351-4900.
