Sarah Michelle Gellar is grateful for her 30-year friendship with Michelle Trachtenberg as she paid tribute to the actress one year after her tragic death.
Gellar posted a series of photos Thursday with her late “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” co-star, reflecting on how “lucky” she is to have had as much time with her as she did.
“From our first day on set together, to less than a year later, when you were already taller than me,” Gellar wrote. “But I first worked with [you] on ‘All My Children.’ I watched you become a star with ‘Harriet.’”
Gellar, 48, added that when she thinks of Trachtenberg, she remembers “that smile that took up your entire face and brought so much joy to others is what comes to mind.”
She explained that Trachtenberg was great with her and husband Freddie Prinze Jr.’s two children — Charlotte and Rocky — and attended countless birthday parties, “though I’m sure you had somewhere cooler to be.”
“You may not have been with us long enough,” concluded the “Ready or Not 2” star, “but we will make sure everyone remembers.”
Gellar included images of Trachtenberg in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” the 1996 movie “Harriet the Spy” and the soap opera “All My Children.”
Gellar and Trachtenberg’s friendship dates back to the ’90s when they both starred on “All My Children.”
Trachtenberg — who died on Feb. 26, 2025 at age 39 from diabetes complications — joined the cast of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” during its fifth season in 2000, playing Gellar’s younger sister, Dawn.
After news broke, of Trachtenberg’s death Gellar shared a poignant quote from the supernatural show.
“‘Michelle, listen to me. Listen. I love you. I will always love you. The hardest thing in this world, is to live in it. I will be brave. I will live… for you.’ 💔💔💔🗝️,” she wrote on Instagram at the time, loosely quoting a line from the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” Season 5 finale.
In October, Gellar took to Instagram to remember Trachtenberg on what would have been her 40th birthday.
“When you turned 16, it was hard not to still see you as the little girl I met on All My Children. When you turned 21, I had to teach myself to not see you as the little sister anymore. I can’t imagine what 40 would have been like. This I know… it would be filled with love. Happy birthday @michelletrachtenberg,” she sweetly shared.
Trachtenberg tragically died in her Central Park South apartment.
At the time, The Post confirmed that the “Ice Princess” star went into cardiac arrest before passing away.
Trachtenberg had recently undergone a liver transplant.
Sources claimed at the time that Trachtenberg’s body rejected the transplant.
Additionally, insiders told People that the “Gossip Girl” alum had been dealing with “health issues” and was “really down emotionally.”
“She told friends she was struggling,” the source alleged. “She was really, really sick and open with those in her circle about how much she was struggling.”
