Notice anything different about Salma Hayek?
This week, the “Frida” actress was announced as the first global brand ambassador for Merz Aesthetics’ Ultherapy Prime treatment, a skin-lifting and collagen-boosting ultrasound procedure she tried herself.
Hayek’s love for skincare runs deep; when she was a teen, she used homemade creams from her grandmother, a trained cosmetologist, and later incorporated tools and devices into her beauty regimen.
Recently, she was on a mission to find something that would target her “turkey neck,” as she referred to it in an interview with People, without having invasive surgery.
“I will tell you, I had been very conservative, doing the same thing and very little for a very long time, which was just working with energy and frequency [devices],” she told the publication.
Hayek added, “Then one day, it kind of plateaued. So I started researching, and it was terrifying, because for a moment, I thought, ‘oh my God, this is the only choice — the knife,’ which I’m terrified of pain. I am a chicken. My threshold, it’s low.”
The superstar — who revealed in 2023 that she uses meditation and frequency machines rather than Botox or other injectables for her youthful appearance — wasn’t looking to turn back the time to her younger days, per se.
“I just want my husband [François-Henri Pinault] to still go, ‘Wow’ when he looks at me,” she said. “I still want to feel good about the way I look, but not necessarily because I want to look 20. I’m okay. I’m more excited about being 50 and 60 and looking good at 50 and 60. It’s a different kind of beauty.”
Though it could take two to three months for patients to notice the full results, Hayek claimed she saw the change in two to three weeks.
One of her pals pointed out her new look, too. “Victoria Beckham. She’s got an eye, that one,” Hayek said in the interview.
“She told me, ‘You did something,’ and I go, ‘No, I haven’t done anything. … Oh yes, I did!’ I forgot for a moment,” Hayek recalled.
When the award-winning actress asked Beckham what exactly she noticed, the namesake designer responded, “This whole thing here, this is different.”
She’s glowing after the treatment declaring, “It just made [me] feel seen as an individual. Everybody has to look for what works for them.”
