Russell Dickerson is opening up about how his friend Keith Urban is doing after his divorce from Nicole Kidman.
While at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Thursday, March 26, Dickerson, 38, told Page Six that Urban, 58, is “doing great.” He noted that he doesn’t get to spend “tons of time” with Urban but said he “seemed in good spirits.”
“He’s always been focused on music, and so I think he’s just kind of doubling down on that, and it’s just beautiful,” Dickerson told the outlet. “I can’t wait to hear what comes out of it.”
When asked about a collaboration with Urban, Dickerson shared that his pal had “heard” the question.
Us Weekly confirmed in September 2025 that Kidman, 58, and Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. The pair are parents of daughters Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14. (Kidman is also the mom of Bella, 33, and Connor, 31, whom she adopted with ex-husband Tom Cruise.)
Kidman filed for divorce that same month, and the duo finalized their split in January. Months later, Kidman addressed their split for the first time.
“I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good. What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward,” Kidman told Variety in an interview published on March 11. “That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect. I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”
When asked whether she intends to stay in Nashville despite her “personal situation” changing, Kidman told the outlet, “Yes.”
“We have our life here,” she continued. “I’m part of the city and community for 20 years. It’s my home. ”
When she’s not working, Kidman noted that she will “go away.”
“I’m very close to my sister in Sydney and all my nieces and nephews. My sister and I are a bit like the aunts in Practical Magic,” Kidman said.
Prior to their divorce, Kidman and Urban had pulled back the curtain on the ups and downs of their marriage. While at the 49th AFI Life Achievement Award Gala in 2024, Urban shared that he once nearly “blew [their] marriage.”
“We got married in June 2006, and barely four months into our marriage, my addictions … that I’d done really nothing about, blew our marriage to smithereens,” Urban said, referring to his past substance abuse issues. “Four months into a marriage, I’m in rehab for three months. I had no idea what was going to happen to us … and if you want to see what love in action really looks like, give that a whirl.”
He continued, “Nic pushed through every negative voice, I’m sure even some of her own, and she chose love. And here we are tonight, 18 years later. That’s the thing about Nic … she loves life. I’ve actually never met anyone who has such a passion for being alive. She knows the importance of expressing feelings as well.”
