Russell Brand has been charged with rape and sexual assault two years following a nearly-two year-investigation into claims made by multiple women.
The “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” actor was charged with one count of rape, one count of oral rape, two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault in incidents ranging after four different women came forward, according to a statement released by Metropolitan Police on Friday.
The alleged incidents happened between 1999 and 2005.
The Metropolitan Police lead Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy said in the statement, “The women who have made reports continue to receive support from specially trained officers.”
“The Met’s investigation remains open and detectives ask anyone who has been affected by this case, or anyone who has any information, to come forward and speak with police,” he continued.
The comedian — who now resides in the United States — is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on May 2.
The British police began investigating Brand, 49, in September 2023 after a bombshell exposé detailed the stories of four women who came forward with their accusations between 2006 and 2013.
One of the accusers claimed she visited a rape center a day after Brand raped her “against a wall” in his Los Angeles home in 2012.
Meanwhile, a second woman alleged she was in an “emotionally abusive and controlling” relationship with Brand, who was in his 30s at the time, while she was just 16.
Brand was then accused by a third woman who allegedly worked for him when he assaulted her.
“I saw something come over his eyes, I swear to God, like, black, his eyes had no more color, they were black, like the devil. Like a different person literally entered his body,” she described to the Sunday Times.
The fourth woman is Brand’s ex-girlfriend Jordan Martin, who accused him of sexually assaulting her and physically and emotionally abusing her.
At the time, the “Get Him To The Greek” actor — who was married to Katy Perry from 2010 to 2012 — denied the allegations.
“I have received two extremely disturbing letters, or a letter and an email, one from a mainstream media TV company, one from a newspaper, listing a litany of egregious and aggressive attacks,” he said in a lengthy Instagram video.
“Amidst this litany of astonishing, rather baroque attacks, are some very serious allegations that I absolutely refute.”
Brand went on to defend his “very, very promiscuous” past while also vehemently maintaining that they were “absolutely always consensual.”
He has yet to comment on the charges and his reps did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request.
