“Real Housewives of Orange County” alum Lynne Curtin’s daughter Alexa says the isolation she felt while filming the Bravo reality show led her down the road to drug addiction and homelessness.
Alexa — whose “drug use started right after high school” — explained in a new interview that the negative way her family was portrayed “made [her] turn to the drugs.”
“It being played out in the public forum like that… was really hard for me, like really difficult because all my friends in school were watching it and they really weren’t too nice to me,” she told Daily Mail last week.
“I was really young at the time,” the 33-year-old continued. “At such a young age that’s like a vital time to portray someone in the wrong way, especially a minor.”
After dabbling in drugs and “drinking heavily” right out of high school, she said her addiction “snowballed and got worse” when she started using pills.
“And then the pills switched over to the hard drugs,” Alexa recounted, adding that the 15 years since her family appeared on the reality TV show have been “beyond horrific.”
“I’m here and I’m alive, but I don’t want to be,” she heartbreakingly admitted. “I’m not trying to get no one’s attention. I am f—king being tortured. This is a cry for help.”
Lynne and her family were on “RHOC” for Seasons 4 and 5 from 2008 to 2010 when Alexa was 15 to 17-years-old. Her rebellious behavior was featured on the show, including sneaking out, drinking alcohol and missing curfew.
The most traumatizing moment for Alexa was when production filmed her and her older sister, Raquel, being served eviction papers at her family’s home while her parents were away.
“I don’t really talk about it, and I don’t even try to think about [the show],” Alexa said of the incident.
Lynne filed for divorce from Alexa’s father, Frank Curtin, shortly after the eviction. The divorce has yet to be finalized.
When asked if she had a message for her parents, Alexa sadly replied, “I don’t even have parents anymore,” adding that the last time she spoke with her mother was in 2019 during an argument over her car.
Page Six has reached out to Lynne for comment.
Alexa now leans on fellow addicts in her community and spends most of her time at motels known for drugs and prostitution, per the outlet.
“I’ve destroyed my life, I’ve destroyed my future, and I don’t really care because I’m just going to keep doing the devil dance,” she said.
Alexa has been in and out of jail through the years on drug-related charges.
Earlier this month, a YouTube interview of Alexa went viral where she detailed the horrors of living on the streets of Los Angeles.
“A lot of bad things have happened to me since moving out here,” she told the “L.A. To You Int.” YouTube channel at a gas station in the crime-ridden Lancaster, Calif.
Alexa had disheveled hair, missing teeth and said she lost two fingers after being in a car accident due to her drug use.
She also detailed a time when she was allegedly sexually assaulted.
“I put myself in a really bad situation and the guy handcuffed me and I tried to crack the window with my head but I couldn’t and he f–king covered my mouth, covered my nose, I couldn’t breathe, and he raped me for like two hours,” she said.
“I have nothing,” Alexa continued. “I have to literally start from the ground up. It’s going to be difficult, but I’m actively trying to do that.”
The channel did a follow-up video with Alexa a week later where she admitted she misses her mom and sister Raquel “a lot.”
“I used to be really involved with my family. I would be there every Christmas and stuff. So having these holidays pass just reminds how much I love my mom and dad.”
