Remi Bader is brushing off the backlash.
The influencer defended her decision to keep her 2023 weight-loss surgery a secret from her followers in a lengthy Instagram post.
“Sharing something so personal again for the first time in a while, I was prepared for both backlash and support,” the 30-year-old wrote on Wednesday after speaking to Self and “Khloé in Wonder Land” podcast listeners.
Bader gushed that “at the end of the day,” she stands by “protecting [her] mental health” by undergoing her single anastomosis duodenal-ileal bypass with sleeve gastrectomy privately.
“No one is changing how proud I am for myself for … sticking to my boundaries at a time I was so low and so lost,” she fired back at haters. “And I will never regret that.”
Social media users praised Bader’s decision to “share personal details on [her] own timeline” in the comments section.
“You before all! Life is short,” one wrote, while a second added, “You don’t owe anybody any explanation.”
Others, however, blasted the model on Wednesday for “wait[ing] to get paid” while allegedly “lying” to her fans for months and “blocking” those who asked questions about her physical transformation.
Notably, Bader declared while sobbing in a September 2023 video that she would “no longer” publicize her “health journey” due to “ridiculous” body shaming.
She clarified to Self that she went under the knife three months after the announcement in order to combat back pain, excess sweat, heart issues and more symptoms.
Following a “brutal” recovery, which left her in a “deep depression,” Bader lost “more than 140 pounds in less than a year.”
The TikTok star divulged her mixed feelings about her appearance, explaining that she “never wanted to be this size” and asked her doctor whether she could remain “curvy.”
She noted, “It’s really confusing to be so quickly in a different body but have the exact same brain.”
After both of her interviews went live, Bader posted throwback photos on her Story from her hospital stay — but mourned additional footage lost to her camera’s “invalid” memory card.
“I filmed a lot of my experience at the time when things were really rough and wanted to eventually share that,” she wrote. “[I] have been so upset about [losing] it for months.”
