Reggie Bird has updated her fans after a knee injury saw her rushed to surgery two weeks ago.

The two-time Big Brother winner, 51, posted a picture on Instagram on Tuesday of her knee post-op after she revealed a week earlier that she was battling complications from the procedure.

‘Still swollen… Hope this heals up soon and I can get back to being my normal self,’ she captioned the post.

In the picture, Reggie’s left leg was swelled up to twice the size of her right, which showed her distinguishable tattoo wrapped around her ankle.

The Aussie TV personality, who recently starred on I’m A Celebrity! Get Me Out Of Here!, has been documenting her healing on Instagram.

Last week, Reggie revealed that she had been rushed to hospital after suffering complications from the tricky knee operation.

The reality star vlogged her day in the emergency department at Gold Coast Hospital on Instagram.

‘It’s been six days after the surgery,’ she said.

‘Not feeling real crash hot, so I’ve rung the hospital to let them know that my ankle and foot is still really swollen since I’ve had the operation and my calf is hurting.’

Reggie’s surgeon had to shave 40 per cent of the cartilage off from one side of her kneecap to replace what she had lost on the other side.

‘The surgeon also asked if I had any falls or trauma and I said yes I had an old man on a big mobility scooter mow me down in Woolworths about a year and a half ago… So it’s most likely came from that,’ she explained in the caption of a pre-surgery update.

‘I spent today in emergency,’ Reggie continued in her vlog posted on Tuesday.

‘Think I’ve got a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in my leg and it’s the same vein that I’ve had a DVT in before.

‘So they’ve told me I’ve got to come into emergency. Oh my god. It never ends. Fingers crossed everything is going to be okay.’

In her video, Reggie showed the swollen state of her leg underneath her bandages, which had to be cut off on Monday for assessment.

Deep vein thrombosis is a condition where a blood clot forms in a deep vein, most commonly in the legs, potentially leading to a life-threatening pulmonary embolism if the clot dislodges and travels to the lungs.

Reggie spent the entire day in the emergency department, where she underwent blood tests and X-rays, and then an ultra-sound to diagnosis her leg.

‘Feel like s***,’ she said.

‘They’ve just found another DVT in my leg which sucks. So I’m just waiting to get my leg re-bandaged. Feels like it’s going to fall off.’

‘The clot goes from ankle just to the bottom of my knee cap,’ she continued in her video, which was filmed at Gold Coast Hospital.

‘The [doctors] said they were lucky that I took myself in there today. If it had have gone any higher than I would have been in trouble.’

She sighed deeply.

‘So yeah, it doesn’t end. I’m tired. Just always something. It never ever ever stops with me,’ she said.

‘I’ve got to go on blood thinners for six months and rest up. That was my day. Ready for bed, I’m buggered.’

Reggie, who recently starred on I’m A Celebrity! Get Me Outta Here, is legally blind.

She suffers from both retinitis pigmentosa, a rare degenerative eye disease that causes severe vision impairment, and stage two Usher Syndrome, which causes deafness and hearing loss.

Currently, Reggie describes her vision as like ‘looking through a straw’, and doctors have told her that one day soon, she might wake up and not be able to see anything at all.
