Ranveer Singh’s movie Dhurandhar is creating quite an uproar in Pakistan. As per the news, the issue has now gone to a local court in Karachi. The filmmakers seem to be having more difficulties, as the trailer and promotional material have been legally challenged.

What is the latest controversy of Dhurandhar?

As per reports, a case complaint has been lodged against the film’s maker, Aditya Dhar, the producer, and the most important staff members in a district court of Pakistan. The petition was handed over by Mohammad Amir, who calls himself a worker of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). He submitted the motion under Sections 22-A and 22-B of the Code of Criminal Procedure in the District and Sessions Court (South). The application intends to include those who worked on the movie as the accused.

How did Dhurandhar land in legal trouble in Pakistan?

The applicant alleges that the trailer of the film presents the PPP as a terrorist-friendly party. Moreover, it shows the Lyari neighborhood of Karachi as a battleground for terrorists, which he claims is untrue and deceiving. Besides, he claims that the film has used the PPP flag and pictures of the party’s late leader without consent. Mohammad Amir states that he encountered the film’s trailer and publicizing materials on social media at a cafe in the Darakhshan police station on December 10.

What is the complaint against Dhurandhar?

The application also states that images of the late former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, party flags, and pictures of rallies were used without legal authorization. According to the applicant, associating the party with terrorism is completely false, fabricated, and intended to spread hatred against the PPP, its leaders, and supporters. Furthermore, portraying Karachi, and specifically Lyari, as a terrorist area is described as damaging to the image of the country and its citizens.

Mohammad Amir also stated that he had previously approached the SHO of the Darakhshan police station to file an FIR in this matter, but the police refused to register the complaint. He claimed that he suffered mental distress and social humiliation as a result. He has now approached the court, requesting it to order the SHO to register a case and
