The much-anticipated nomination announcement for the upcoming Oscars 2025 is scheduled for today. The Academy had recently announced the news on its social media handle and confirmed that the nominations will be presented by actors Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang.

“Meet this year’s #Oscars nominations hosts: Bowen Yang and Rachel Sennott. Join us on Thursday, January 23rd, at 8:30 AM ET / 5:30 AM PT to see who is headed to the 97th Oscars. Stream on Oscar.com, Oscars.org, ABC, Hulu, Disney+ or the Academy’s TikTok, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook (sic),” their post on X read.

As announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Oscar nominations had to be postponed due to the Los Angeles wildfires . The Academy had initially extended the voting period by a couple of days to help members get more time to cast their ballots, and moved the nominations’ announcement to January 19.

However, it had to be further shifted to January 23 due to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. Chief Executive Bill Kramer penned a letter which read, “We want to offer our deepest condolences to those who have been impacted by the devastating fires across Southern California… So many of our members and industry colleagues live and work in the Los Angeles area, and we are thinking of you.”

The announcement – which will now be made virtually without in-person media coverage – has been scheduled for January 23. In a recent report by The Sun, the 2025 Oscars were expected to get cancelled due to the widespread destruction caused by the LA wildfires. But However, The Hollywood Reporter soon rubbished these claims, and had also quoted sources from the Academy saying that the awards weren’t called off. The ceremony can be viewed via a global livestream on Oscars.com, Oscars.org and the Academy’s other digital and social media platforms.
