Catherine, The Princess of Wales, reportedly celebrated her 43rd birthday quietly at home in Windsor with her family. This year’s birthday carried a deeper emotional significance after what Prince William described as a “brutal” year for the royal family.
Prince William’s Instagram post for Princess Kate’s birthday
Prince William marked the occasion by sharing a rare, heartfelt post on the platform Instagram, today. Accompanying a black-and-white portrait of Kate, taken by photographer Matt Porteous in Windsor last summer, the prince wrote:
“To the most incredible wife and mother. The strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you. Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you. W.”
This public expression of admiration comes as Kate continues her recovery after undergoing cancer treatment over the past year.
Princess Kate’s cancer diagnosis and treatment
In January 2024, Kate underwent planned abdominal surgery. During her recovery, doctors discovered cancer, which led to her starting a preventative chemotherapy course in February. In September, Kate announced she had completed her treatment. Reflecting on her journey, she shared:
“Doing what I can to stay cancer-free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long, and I must continue to take each day as it comes.”
Kate’s health struggles unfolded during a challenging year for the family, with King Charles also undergoing cancer treatment. Prince William candidly described 2024: “It’s been dreadful. I’m so proud of my wife and my father for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been brutal.”
Kate is gradually resuming her royal duties, balancing her public responsibilities with personal recovery. The Princess has expressed her commitment to taking each day as it comes while staying focused on her health and family.
The royal couple has adopted a more personal approach to social media over the past year, offering glimpses into their lives on their own terms. This shift aligns with their efforts to connect more intimately with the public while managing their responsibilities as senior royals.
