If you find yourself missing Shane and Ilya after “Heated Rivalry” wrapped up and you binged all of the books in the “Game Changers” series, we have some good news (but if you’re trying to steer clear of spoilers for Season 2 by avoiding all things “The Long Game,” you may want to click away now).
A seventh book in Rachel Reid’s series that inspired the “Heated Rivalry” television show is on the way.
Titled “Unrivaled,” it officially hits bookshelves on Sept. 29.
“Unrivaled” will continue the story of the steamy romance between rival hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov (played by Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, respectively, in the buzzy Crave/HBO Max series).
Shane and Ilya defined their relationship after eight years at the end of “Heated Rivalry” and kept their relationship a secret for even longer before being outed in “The Long Game.” Now, the new book will pick up with Shane and Ilya navigating a new dynamic as husbands and, for the first time, teammates.
In an exclusive with People, who revealed the cover on Jan. 12, Reid said, “I’m really excited to have the chance to continue their story with Unrivaled. I’m writing this one for all the Hollanov fans, old and new. I can’t tell you how much the love my characters have received over the years means to me. It has been a blast writing these guys again, and revisiting the entire Game Changers cast.”
Shortly after “Heated Rivalry” hit HBO Max on Thanksgiving weekend, paperback copies of “Heated Rivalry,” “Game Changer,” and “The Long Game” were virtually impossible to find — sold out online and nowhere to be seen in bookstores. Fans were resorting to TikTok shop to find physical copies of every book in the series.
“Unrivaled” is available to preorder now in paperback, Kindle e-book, Audible audiobook and a Barnes and Noble exclusive paperback with a different cover, sprayed edges, and bonus content.

A line has been drawn—and the hockey world is divided.
For the first time in their professional hockey careers, Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander have nothing to hide. For more than a decade, they kept their love a secret, but now they’re out, married, and even playing on the same team. The support is incredible.
Most of the time.
They’ve gotten a lot of love from fans who are thrilled for them. But some people in the hockey world are still reeling from their relationship reveal, and the backlash—led by popular hockey podcast ‘Top Shelf’ and the #TakeBackHockey movement—is getting louder.
Ilya and Shane are finally able to stand together in the light, the way they’d always wanted. And now they might be facing their biggest challenge yet.
