Michelle Keegan was raring to get back to work on Wednesday as she arrived on the set of Brassic in Manchester, after it was revealed that the hit comedy will end with its seventh series.
The actress, 37, took to her Instagram Stories later in the day to insist that the Sky One show ‘has not been axed’, but instead has ‘come to a natural end’.
And following the sad news that the fan-favourite series won’t be returning, she cut a slightly less cheery figure than usual, as she was escorted to the Brassic set by her security.
Michelle – who is pregnant with her first child with her husband Mark Wright – hid her blossoming baby bump from view, as she wrapped up from the chilly temperatures in a huge green crew coat.
Underneath, the Fool Me Once star could be seen to be sporting camouflaged cargo pants and heavy-duty black boots.
Getting into character as single mum Erin Croft, she had her brunette locks pulled up into Erin’s signature high ponytail hairstyle and donned her usual large hoop earrings.

It was announced that Brassic would be ending after series seven on Wednesday by co-creator and writer Danny Brocklehurst, who said: ‘When Joe Gilgun and I sat down to create Brassic, we couldn’t have imagined, in our wildest dreams, that we would do seven series and gather such a loyal and loving fan base.
‘It’s been a complete joy to create this eccentric world, but all good things must come to an end, and we want to stop while we are still riding high. Maybe they can finally give us that BAFTA.’
While a spokesperson for Sky stated: ‘Fans very quickly became attached to this dynamic group of friends, as they found unconventional ways to win at life in northern suburbia.
‘We would like to thank Joe Gilgun, Danny Brocklehurst and the whole cast and crew – past and present – for bringing us all a truly iconic series, which we’ve loved for its special mix of hilarity and heart.’
As fans mourned the ending of the beloved comedy drama, Michelle took to her social media to clarify that the show had not been cancelled.
Sharing a clip of herself with the cast, she penned: ‘And just for the record… Brassic has not been ‘AXED’ or ‘cancelled’ it’s come to a natural end after six fantastic seasons and we’re currently in the middle of making the 7th and final season.’
Michelle signed off with: ‘Sending love to all the Brassic fans out there,’ alongside a love heart emoji.
