Penn Badgley just can’t seem to get away from killers.
The You star will topline a murder mystery at Prime Video called Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone. Prime has placed a series order for the project from showrunner David Hemingson, Fifth Season and Made Up Stories. The series is based on a novel of the same name by Benjamin Stevenson.
“I’m thrilled to be partnered with Fifth Season and Made Up Stories in bringing Ben’s heartfelt and darkly hilarious whodunit to life,” said Hemingson (The Holdovers). “And we are so lucky to have Penn as our lead. I can’t think of any actor better suited to bring Ern’s intensity, brilliance and hilariously dry sense of humor to life.”
Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone follows Ern Cunningham (Badgley), a “mystery-writing expert” who heads to Vermont for family reunion “to welcome his brother Michael home from prison — the same brother Ern helped convict,” the show’s logline reads. “When a frozen body appears and a snowstorm traps everyone inside, the deaths begin to mount. Everyone in Ern’s family has already killed someone — either by accident or otherwise.”
Hemingson will executive produce the series with Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky and Jeanne Snow of Made Up Stories, Molly Allen, Badgley and Stevenson.

Stevenson’s 2022 novel kicked off a best-selling series — there are currently four Ernest Cunningham mysteries, and the author is writing a fifth.
