Pedro Pascal delighted fans over the weekend as he was revealed as the latest A-list star to be reading a CBeebies Bedtime Story.
Last week, the actor, who first rose to fame as Oberyn Martell in Game Of Thrones over a decade ago, was confirmed to be joining the much-loved bedtime slot on the BBC children’s channel.
Having appeared in sci-fi hit Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, Pedro, 51, read cosmos based book Meet The Planets by Caryl Hart on the Friday evening episode.
Pedro recounted the playful story about a journey across the solar system, introducing young viewers to the planets and their unique personalities.
Speaking about his love of storytelling, Pedro said ahead of the episode hitting screens: ‘I love storytelling more than anything in the world. I loved stories as a kid, mostly at night, because I would take them into my dreams.
‘So, if it was from a book, or from my mom’s imagination, I always asked for a story to help me get to sleep.’

However, it wasn’t just the channel’s young viewers who admitted they were thrilled by Pedro taking to the screen – as thousands of adults admitted they too were planning on tuning in for the episode.
Taking to Facebook to react to the news, many mums were quick to admit that they had switched on the channel despite their kids having ‘grown out’ of CBeebies.
They said: ‘I thought our time with CBeebies was long gone… perhaps not;’
‘Can he come to my house to read it? I would understand it better in person;’
‘My children no longer watch much CBeebies but I think i might be glued to this one;’
‘I need to borrow a child to watch CBeebies without looking weird;’
‘He could read me each and every page of the yellow pages, followed by the terms and conditions of anything, followed by the screw fix catalogue, and id be absolutely riveted;’
‘My youngest is nearly 14, I thought our CBeebies days were over. Deffo watching this to learn about the planets…;’
‘I can still watch now my kids are double figures… right?’
‘That’s my, I mean, the baby’s bedtime story sorted;’
The show has previously welcomed the likes of Tom Hardy (pictured), Chris Hemsworth, Harry Styles, Tom Hiddleston, Ryan Reynolds, Dolly Parton, Idris Elba and Sir Elton John
Pedro joins a long list of A-list stars who have read on CBeebies Bedtime Stories, including Tom Hardy, Chris Hemsworth, Harry Styles, Tom Hiddleston, Ryan Reynolds, Dolly Parton, Idris Elba and Sir Elton John.
John Harkins, who said he has been executive editor of the show since 2019, said he is continually surprised by the caliber of celebrities who want to read a story.
He told GQ: ‘I got the opportunity to go to Nashville to film Dolly Parton and brief her in her dressing room, which was just incredible.
‘She requested to do it, and invited us over to Dollywood, [which was set up] with loads of teddy bears. She wanted to know how to read and was asking our advice.’
CBeebies Bedtime Story has been a staple of the channel since it launched back in 2002.
Back in March, Pedro sparked concern among his fans after he debuted a shocking new look at the 2026 Oscars.
The actor looked dapper as he hit the Academy Awards red carpet in a button-down white shirt adorned with a large flower on the chest and a pair of high-waisted black pants.
But the Materialists star notably changed up his appearance for the event: shaving off his signature mustache.
Many fans were left stunned over how different he looked without his facial hair, and took to X in droves to discuss it.
Some were so shocked by his new look that they wondered if he had been ‘cloned’ or if it was actually a ‘wax figure’ on the carpet.
‘WTF happened to Pedro Pascal?’ asked one user. ‘A wax figure of Pedro Pascal was unveiled at tonight’s Academy Awards,’ joked someone else.
‘Pedro looks so different,’ read a third post, while a fourth said: ‘Not used to seeing a clean-shaven Pedro! Had to double-take.’
‘Why does he look younger than his age here?’ wondered a different user.
Someone else chimed in: ‘Pedro Pascal without a mustache is kinda weird, right?’
‘This is not the real Pedro Pascal, it’s a clone like Jim Carrey,’ another fan theorized.
Carrey’s representative was forced to confirm that it was really him who attended the Cesar Awards last month after an array of fans thought he had been ‘cloned’ due to his striking new look.
Others wondered if Pascal had lost weight, with one writing: ‘Am I tripping or does Pedro Pascal look really thin? Is it for a role?’
‘Is it just me – or does Pedro Pascal look like he got really skinny since we saw him last?’ wondered another.
‘Skinny beardless Pedro Pascal is really scaring me I don’t like it,’ read a different post.
CBeebies Bedtime Story airs daily at 6:50pm on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
