The Block 2026 is just days away from kicking off, and this year’s new ‘competitive’ contestants are shaping up to be heavy on the drama.

Daily Mail got an exclusive preview of the finished houses last Thursday and mingled with the latest batch of reality stars on the construction site at Mount Eliza.

But it was after the house tours, when contestants and guests were shipped off to Crittenden Wines for a lunch Q&A, that the real Block gossip began to unfold.

We learned which contestants would get the infamous ‘villain edit’, who was bringing the most drama, and which star got caught naked in the bathroom.

The gossip kicked off during the lunch when hosts Scott Cam and Shelley Craft ran a lighthearted Q&A with each team.

During this chat, it was revealed that one of the male contestants had accidentally walked in on one of his female co-stars while she was getting changed.

Lisa and Rosco, a married couple from Perth, were being interviewed by Shelley, 50, with the paramedic, 34, proudly displaying her baby bump.

It had been revealed at the media call that she discovered she was pregnant during the first two weeks of filming on The Block.

She was then forced to live with her fellow contestants in a sharehouse for the duration of the season, in a Block first.

When Shelley asked Lisa how she managed to navigate a sharehouse while pregnant, the expectant mother said she was used to the living arrangement.

‘We spent the first five years of our relationship living in a sharehouse… we’re pretty used to it,’ she said.

Her husband, Rosco, 38, then stunned the audience when he teased, ‘I think Rick got the best deal on the sharehouse,’ referring to a fellow male contestant.

When Lisa queried what Rosco meant, the FIFO worker began to say, ‘[He] walked in on…’ but Lisa cut him off, saying that information was for ‘The Block After Dark’.

However, we were seated next to Rick, 63, and his daughter Tayla during lunch, and overheard the personal trainer, 32, whispering to her father to elaborate.

Should reality TV shows twist edits to create villains, or is it unfair to the contestants?

‘Did you walk in on them having sex?’ she asked as she leaned across the table to Rick while sitting next to us.

Rick shook his head, and, when his daughter asked again what he walked in on, the builder finally said: ‘[Lisa] was getting dressed.’

‘Oh, her boobs. You saw her boobs?’ Tayla, to which Rick said: ‘Yeah.’

Following the lunch, Daily Mail sat down with each team for some exclusive conversations to find out more gossip from The Block filming.

It was the first time in the show’s history that The Block contestants were asked to live together during filming.

So, naturally, we wanted to know how everyone got along while tensions were running high.

Rick and Tayla, who are quickly becoming known for their laid-back, no-filter approach to the show, happily revealed that Wyatt was the toughest to live with.

‘He’s an absolute pig. Just dirty,’ Rick said, prompting shocked laughter from his daughter Tayla who told him he shouldn’t insult his fellow contestant like that.

‘I’m allowed to say that. He knows it,’ Rick joked. ‘It’s not a bad word.’

‘Because [Wyatt] left his dirty bowls in the sink all the time. And then no one emptied the rubbish, including myself, so Dad did it every Friday,’ Tayla explained.

‘I’m a bit of a clean freak,’ Rick admitted.

‘Not a clean freak, but when he went to put his tea bag in the bin, it was overflowing,’ Tayla said.

‘It was Wyatt, with about 25 YouFoods packets stacked to the top. So, there was only one culprit there and that was him,’ Rick joked.

Tayla also went on to say that of all the contestants, she thought Jolene, from South Australia, was the biggest drama queen on The Block.

‘Yeah, it’s not nice to say, but Jolene… She’s just competitive,’ Rick agreed.

However, the cattle station manager, 42, who is competing this year with her husband Adam, said it was actually Tayla who brought the drama this season.

‘She likes her drama. She’s a bit out there,’ Jolene said, hinting that the two may butt heads at some point in the season.

Adam was also quick to name who he thought would get the notorious ‘villain edit’ this year.

Jolene, along with the other contestants, initially played off speculation about which contestant might be painted in a negative light this year.

However, Adam happily listed the three people he thought were going to look like the bad guys when the show went to air – and one of them was his wife.

‘I think we’ll probably all take it in turns, to be fair. We’ve all had our times when it gets a bit hot and a bit heavy and a bit heated,’ Jolene began.

‘I think we can kind of all take that on at different times. It’ll be interesting to watch it play out.’

But Adam dismissed his partner’s diplomatic answer, saying: ‘There’s like three people I reckon it could be. [Jolene] could be one of them.’

‘Thanks for that. I’ve already been told that,’ Jolene responded.

‘[And] Courtney or Wyatt. I’m going to throw three in the ring,’ Adam added, before joking that he wouldn’t mind getting a ‘villain edit’.

The Block premieres Sunday August 2 at 7:00pm on Channel Nine and 9Now.
