If you have been gearing up for the upcoming Singapore Grand Pix, you will not need to wait till October to see a Formula One race car zoom past you.
Mercedes’ Fred Vesti will be driving his team’s car along a 600m stretch along Orchard Road, from Paragon to Tangs Plaza, in three live demonstrations on Sunday (Aug 30) afternoon at 3pm, 3.30pm and 3.45pm.
“I’m excited to put on a show in the car, but the whole weekend is going to be special. It’s a chance to create a memorable experience for fans and introduce new audiences to our sport,” Fred said.
This is part of Adidas Orchard Ignition — a two-day event by the sportswear brand and Mercedes-AMG Petronas that’s running this weekend.
The demonstrations will kick off with a flag-off ceremony featuring K-pop group Babymonster, who will later join Fred for a series of hot laps in a different Mercedes car.
The above activities are free and open to the public, and selected fans can win access to elevated VIP viewing decks.

This is the first live race car demonstration in Singapore since 2011, when former F1 driver David Coulthard drove Red Bull’s racing show car from Ion Orchard to Mandarin Gallery.
In addition to the race car demonstrations and hot laps, Adidas Orchard Ignition will include various fringe activities.
On Saturday, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team Garage pop-up will be held outside Adidas Brand Centre Orchard, where a limited number of fans will get a behind-the-scenes look at how technicians prepare the car for the live race.
From 4pm on Sunday, the public can enjoy special performances by Singapore artistes Benjamin Kheng and Iman Fandi in the Fan Festival held at Design Orchard.
Selected fans will get the opportunity to take part in an exclusive Babymonster engagement experience.
The night will then end off with a high-energy set by local DJ and music content creator DJ Kiara.
