Olivia Rodrigo has achieved the biggest opening week of her career with her new album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love which has clinched Number 1 in the UK album charts.

Her third studio album has shifted almost 103,000 chart units – her most explosive album launch – following debut album SOUR’s 51,000 units and GUTS’ 60,000 units in their respective opening weeks.

At just 23 years old, Olivia becomes the youngest international artist to shift over 100,000 albums in release week in more than two decades, since Britney Spears’ Greatest Hits: My Prerogative in 2004.

As well as securing a hat-trick of Number 1 albums, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love banks the biggest first week for any international album release this year in the UK.

She also tops the Official Record Store Chart and the Official Album Vinyl Chart.

Speaking on her accomplishments, Olivia said: ‘Thank you so much for this Number 1 album award! It means so much to me.

‘I wrote so many of these songs in the UK, so it makes it extra special. Thank you all for listening, I appreciate it so much. I can’t wait to put this on my mantle!’

Three tracks from the record all break the Top 5 including the UK’s highest new entry of the week stupid song (2), the cure (3) and drop dead (5).

This is the first time she has achieved this feat since 2021.

It comes after earlier this week Olivia left presenters Tyler West and Chloe Burrows shocked as she revealed she is 60 per cent deaf in one ear in a new interview.

Appearing on KISS FM earlier this week, the singer chatted about her new album.

One of her new songs is called What’s Wrong With Me? and Tyler asked the star ‘what is wrong with you?’

Surprisingly Olivia then opened up about her hearing loss as she revealed: ‘There’s quite a lot that’s wrong with me.

‘Um, actually, I am like, 60 per cent deaf in my left ear. So, if you were to sit on this side of me [points to the left] and try to tell me a secret, I couldn’t make out what you were saying.

‘So, if you tell me a secret, go right here [points to the right].’

Shocked by the revelation, Chloe exclaimed: ‘That is amazing because you’re a singer and you always have like headphones, like that is crazy.’

Earlier this month Olivia posed up a storm in her sexiest shoot yet as she opened up about navigating heartbreaks ahead of the release of her new album.

The Traitors hitmaker showcased her toned physique in a bedazzled sequinned bra as she confessed she sees breakup as an ‘awesome opportunity to redirect your life’.

The singer confirmed her split from her boyfriend Louis Partridge back in April after it was reported in December that the pair had gone their separate ways.

And now as she opened up on her love life in her shoot with Dazed as she explained: ‘I think going through a breakup can be a really awesome opportunity to redirect your life in a [way] that feels more aligned with who you are.

‘That’s such a beautiful part of being in a relationship. Even if it doesn’t last forever and you don’t get married, it’s so worthwhile.

‘You never learn more about yourself through any other experience. It’s a very raw thing.’

Olivia’s third album details her first time being in an ‘adult relationship’ and she explained: ‘It’s me discovering what romantic love looks like in real time.

‘I’ve been in relationships before that were really exciting and tumultuous in a teenage way, but this was my first time being in a real, ‘big girl’ relationship.

‘And when you’re in an intimate relationship, it holds up a mirror and shows you parts of yourself that you would never normally see. That was an endless source of inspiration – something that I’m still mining.’

Asked whether heartbreak eases with age she replied: ‘I think it gets easier… I don’t know, talk to me in two years and maybe I’ll have gone through the worst heartbreak ever.

‘But I just feel like heartbreak will never be as bad as it was when you were 17 years old.

‘That breakup that I went through when I was 17… oh my God, nothing will ever be that tough ever again. Hopefully! Maybe I’m speaking very naively.

‘But I do feel that with every kind of rejection – whether in love or a work thing, a friend thing or whatever – I’m taking stuff less personally as I get older. As you grow and have more experiences, it starts to feel OK.’
