NYPD Blue alum Kim Delaney is celebrating her partner just days after they were both arrested.
Delaney, 63, took to Instagram on Thursday, April 3, to mark partner James Morgan’s 55th birthday. “Birthday Boy, 55!!!!! Your wife loves you, my guy!🌹,” the actress wrote alongside a photo of a bouquet of flowers.
Delaney made the post just five days after both she and Morgan were arrested on Saturday, March 29, following an alleged domestic dispute.
TMZ first reported that police arrived at the Los Angeles home Delaney shares with her partner at around 10 a.m. Saturday morning. After both were checked for injuries, they were each arrested.
The Marina Del Rey Sheriff’s Station confirmed to Us Weekly that Delaney was arrested on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon and Morgan with misdemeanor domestic violence.
However, on Tuesday, April 1, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office said it would not be pursuing the charges against the pair.
“Our office has declined to file charges against Kim Delaney and James Morgan due to insufficient evidence,” a spokesperson for the L.A. DA told Us in a statement.
Delaney and a man presumed to be Morgan celebrated their second wedding anniversary on October 11, 2024. The actress shared a photo of the pair via Instagram on October 12 and wrote, “A beautiful 2nd wedding anniversary!!! 10/11. And now anniversary weekend! Great memories! I love you, hubby-your wife for life.. 💚💍💚.”
In January 2025, she shared a photo with the same man and captioned it, “#love always wins! Let’s keep this love and kindness with each other through these uncertain times! 🙏🍀.”
This isn’t Delaney’s first brush with the law. In January 2024, she was sued over an alleged hit-and-run in November 2022. The charges were filed by a man named Dzhamal Badalov for allegedly crashing into him on his motorcycle while driving in Los Angeles, according to legal documents obtained by Us, which were filed in January 2024. In his filing, Badalov claims Delaney was seen “swerving through the streets” and “driving erratically” before causing him to be “thrown off his motorcycle and land onto the street.” The current status of the lawsuit is not clear.
Delaney is best known for playing Detective Diane Russell on NYPD Blue, which earned her an Emmy award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
