Comedian-actor Sunil Pal, who went missing for several hours after travelling out of Mumbai for a show, has finally returned home safe. Concerned about losing contact with him, his wife had initially filed a missing complaint on December 3 at the Santacruz police station. He was found safe a few hours later and returned to Mumbai on December 4.
Now, in an exclusive interview with Zee News, Sunil Pal recounted what happened on the night of the kidnapping. He thanked his fans and said it was due to their love and blessings that he was safe.
‘Main surakshit hoon, ghar par hoon. December 2 ko mujhe ek show ke liye jaana tha and show ke naam par booking huyi thi. Jab main waha pahuncha, toh woh kidnapping thi. Chehre pe patti bandh ke mujhe lekar gaye. Shuruaat mein ache se rahe, aage chalke mujhe patti bandh ke lekar gaye. One and a half hour ke safar mein mujhe kidnap kiya and bola humein aapse kuchh nahin chahiye, hume paise de do, hum apko chod denge.’
Sunil revealed that the kidnappers demanded a ransom amount of Rs 20 lakh.
‘Pehle Rs 20 lakh maanga aur main samjh gaya ki yeh log khatarnak hai and mujhe jaane denge nahin. Baad mein phir Rs 10 lakh bola and fir jo baatcheet huyi toh unhonein account transfer ke naam pe mujhse doston ke numbers liye. Phir paise transfer huye Rs 7.50 lakh aur unhonein mujhe choda 6.30 baje.’
Sunil revealed that he could not recognise the kidnappers as they had covered their faces with masks. He added that the kidnappers had snatched his phone and had all the access to his contacts.
‘Mere aankhon par patti bandhi thi unn logon ne and jab jab zaroorat padhti thi, tab woh log patti khol dete the. Unke chehron par patti thi, toh unko jaan nahin paaya na pehchaan paaya. Itna sab kuch hua 24 ghanto mein, stress mein thha and mera dimag kaam nahin kar rha tha. Shaam ko Meerut ke highway road par chod diya unhonein mujhe,’ he added.
Sunil said that the booking for his show came from Haridwar. ‘Raaste mein hi woh log mein 1.30 hours ka safar kar ke kahin aur lekar gaye. Main kuchh dekh nahin paaya kyunki aankhon par patti thi. Doosre din bola paise de do hum aapko chhod denge. Kaise karoge kya karoge poochha aur maine bataaya account ke through hoga. Process ke liye subah se sham ho gayi and jab sham ko process complete huya woh logon ne chhod diya mujhe.’
Sunil Pal added, ‘Kidnappers ne mujhe Meerut road par chhoda, jahaan se Ghaziabad ki metro jaati hai wahaan se 15 minutes ki doori par chhoda. Shaam ki flight pakadni thi and shaam ke 7 baj chuke the. Flight ke ticket ke paise bhi unhonein diye. Jab mere taraf se paise mil gaye unhein toh unhonein kaha hum galat log nahin hai, hum chahte hai aap biwi bachche ke saath rahe aur flight se jaye. Rs 20,000 diye flight ke mujhe and kaha hum jayenge uske baad patti khol dena.’
Sunil Pal also mentioned how the booking of the show was a fraud. And that it is not a PR stunt.
‘PR stunt hota toh firauti ko baat kahi thi, maine kaha doston ko bolta hoon, ghar waalon ko bataana mat. Maine mere ek mitra se paise mangvaye and usne galti se poochh liya and main ghar par nahin pahuncha and woh log chinta mein the, toh gharwalo ne police complaint kar di and waha se baat khul gayi.’
Sunil Pal is a popular comedian, who rose to prominence when he won the comedy reality show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2005. He has also starred in supporting roles in Bollywood films like Phir Hera Pheri, Apna Sapna Money Money and Bombay to Goa among others.
