Normani and DK Metcalf’s A-list matchmaker revealed after surprise engagement

The matchmaker behind Normani and DK Metcalf’s love story has congratulated them on their engagement.

The former Fifth Harmony singer, 28, announced her engagement to the Pittsburgh Steelers wide, 27, on Thursday.

And on Friday, 39-year-old singer Ciara revealed she and husband Russell Wilson, 36, are responsible for their meeting.

Taking to TikTok to share a screenshot of the couples celebrating on FaceTime, she captioned, ‘@Russell Wilson and I knew when we [introduced] y’all 3yrs ago ..love was truly in the air! Now y’all gon’ be booed up for forever!!’

The Texas native, who married Wilson in 2016, added, ‘This was the best news!we love y’all so much!’ The post was soundtracked by Normani and Khalid’s 2018 song Love Lies.

Chatting with Vogue about the surprise proposal, Normani said she was not expecting it at all.

‘Oh my goodness, honestly, I knew absolutely nothing. As oblivious as oblivious can get, that was pretty much me,’ she recalled.

The former Seahawks player popped the question during a trip to Houston with both of their families.

‘I was just thinking, ‘Okay, cool. This is a great opportunity for our families to get together, enjoy each other, and spend quality time together,’ the Wild Side hitmaker shared.

DK, full name DeKaylin Zecharius, told the magazine that he showed Ciara the engagement ring her purchased ahead of the big ask.

‘Me and Ciara are really close, and Russell and DK were teammates on the Seattle Seahawks,’ Normani explained of the couples’ connection. 

She also divulged that her fiancé saw her Motivation music video two years before they met and declared, ‘That’s going to be my wife. That’s going to be my girlfriend one day.’

The lovebirds eventually met at a party for Ciara’s rum brand, which she had strategically coordinated.

Amid all the excitement, the hitmaker said she’s ‘trying my best to just be present in this season.’

Normani proudly showed off her diamond engagement ring at a Steelers press conference announcing her fiancé’s trade to the team on Thursday. 

‘She’s right there. Hold that rock up, baby,’ he Metcalf said to a glowing Normani, who was dressed in a Steelers jersey with the number four on it. 

DK had planned to propose ‘for a while’ but it didn’t work out due to their clashing itineraries.

‘I tried to [propose] last year but she’s a singer so her work conflicted with our schedules,’ he explained.
