There are probably quite a few women you would love to have been set up with George Clooney, but the same can’t be said for Nobody Wants This executive producer Sara Foster.
During a recent episode of the podcast, The World’s First Podcast, which she co-hosts with her sister and the creator of the hit Netflix series, Erin Foster, Sara revealed that Cindy Crawford and her husband, Rande Gerber, once arranged a date with her and the Oscar winner.
“Do you guys know that I got set up with George Clooney like 30 years ago and it was such a blah?” Foster confessed. “Sorry, had to say it.”
This was clearly news to Erin, who asked in a surprised tone, “Wait, sorry, you went on a date with him?”
“Rande and Cindy tried to set me up with him, like, when I was 24 maybe? And the four of us met and it was just such a hard no. You didn’t know that?” Sara clarified before adding, “I remember just thinking, ‘Oh, he is so old.’ I always say that when I see these young girls dating older guys. Like, yes, of course, sometimes it makes sense, and it’s all the things. [But] I’ve never understood a 19-year-old that’s into a 40-year-old. I just always thought that was so weird.”
The Nobody Wants This creator admitted she was actually “offended” that her married friends would set her up with Clooney because “he felt so old at the time.” Sara, 44, is 20 years younger than the Jay Kelly star, who is 64 years old.
“I’m sure George Clooney is a nice guy, but I just remember it being the four of us sitting there and thinking like, ‘I’m gonna die, like I’m gonna die,’” she continued, noting that she was still “so sad” over her ex-boyfriend at the time of the date. “Then, here’s this one, who just feels like a grandpa. It was depressing. I was so depressed.”
Despite Sara’s blunt words, she explained that she wasn’t intending to insult the Wolfs actor. She also recalled Clooney not seeming too interested in her, either.
“I also think it wasn’t George being like, ‘Oh, set me up with Sara Foster.’ I think it was more like Rande and Cindy being like, ‘We know someone great,’” she said. “I don’t think he was that into it either. I started crying about my ex to him. So I think he was like, ‘This chick’s not OK.’”
Erin teased her sister, saying she’s probably “the only woman on the planet” who would be bummed out by a date with who she described as “heartthrob of America.”
Years later, Sara tied the knot with former tennis player Tommy Haas in 2006 and had two daughters. They ended up splitting in 2023. As for Clooney, he’s been married to Amal Clooney since 2014, and they share twins.
