Michele Reiner
Michele Reiner (neé Singer), a photographer, met Rob on the set of his film “When Harry Met Sally” in the late 1980s.
Rob — who was directing the movie — was single after divorcing his first wife and quickly fell for Michele. His deep feelings for her even impacted the movie’s plot as he changed the script’s ending to be more romantic.
“I had been single for 10 years after having been married for 10 years, and so I couldn’t see how I would get with anybody ever again. It became the basis for the film,” he told AARP in 2014.
“[Screenwriter] Nora Ephron was the prototype for Sally, and I was the prototype for Harry. We had an ending where they didn’t get together. But I met [Michele] three-quarters of the way through the movie, and I thought, ‘Oh, well, I see how this could work again.’”
Rob and Michele tied the knot in 1989 — the same year the movie premiered — and they went on to welcome three children together.
The pair were happily married until their tragic death in December 2025. Authorities confirmed that they were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood, Calif., home. He was 78 and she was 68.
Jake Reiner
Rob and Michele welcomed their first child together, Jake Reiner, on May 2, 1991.
Jake followed in his father’s footsteps by building a career in the entertainment industry.
He took on small acting roles in “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “War of the Worlds.” He is also the host of the baseball podcast “Meeting on the Mound.”
Rob revealed that Jake’s passion for the sport came from his own father, Carl Reiner.
“My dad was a huge, huge baseball fan,” Rob told People in 2023. “He passed it onto me, and I passed it onto Jake.”
Nick Reiner
Nick Reiner, Rob’s second child with Michele, was born on Sept. 14, 1993.
The middle child has been open about his drug addiction, and first went to rehab when he was 15 years old. He re-entered facilities multiple times throughout his life, and his drug issues ultimately caused him to live on the streets.
“I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas,” Nick told People in 2016. “I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun.”
Nick also worked in Hollywood, producing several projects and writing the screenplay for 2015’s “Being Charlie,” a semi-autobiographical film chronicling a young man’s addiction struggles that drew on his own experiences. Rob directed the film.
While Nick said he never really bonded with his dad, he admitted in an interview with AOL in 2016 that collaborating on the film made him feel “closer” to Rob.
On Dec. 14, 2025, Nick was named as a person of interest in his parents’ stabbing deaths and arrested on charges of murder.
Romy Reiner
Rob and Michele welcomed their first daughter together, Romy Reiner, on Dec. 27, 1997.
Like her dad and older siblings, Romy also works in the film industry. She acted in 2023’s “You People” and is a writer for the upcoming project, “Born Again Virgin,” according to her IMDB.
Romy appeared to have a close relationship with her famous dad and honored him with a sweet message on Father’s Day in 2021.
“Happy Father’s Day to the man who I could talk to forever and also the man who I can sit in silence with and be perfectly content,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “Love you forever. If this day is hard for you, remember that it’s just a Hallmark holiday.”
Just weeks before her parents died, she also expressed how grateful she was for her family in an Instagram post.
“Thankful for family, health, and followers of any age. Not thankful for the president and the state of our country,” she said, echoing her dad’s anti-Trump messaging.
Romy was reportedly the person to discover Rob and Michele after they were stabbed to death in their LA home on Dec. 14, 2025, People reported.
Tracy Reiner
Tracy Reiner — the daughter of the late Penny Marshall and her first husband, Michael Henry — was born on July 7, 1964.
Rob legally adopted Tracy in 1971, the year he married Marshall. (They divorced in 1981).
Tracy has appeared in several movies, including “Die Hard,” “A League of Her Own” and “Pretty Woman.”
The actress expressed her total shock after Romy allegedly found their parents’ throats split.
“I came from the greatest family ever,” Tracy told NBC News at the time. “I don’t know what to say. I’m in shock.”
