One year after Zach Bryan’s love life came under scrutiny in the wake of Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia’s abuse claims, the country singer wed girlfriend Samantha Leonard.
Bryan has been married once before and went public with one other relationship prior to his romance with LaPaglia.
While Bryan does not often dish on his significant others, they have been clear inspirations for his hit songs.
“I hate the man I am / But I’ll love him when you’re mine,” he sang in “Mine,” released in May 2020. “When you are mine / No, I ain’t so angry / When you are mine / This world don’t owe me a thing.”
The performer later confirmed that the song was about his ex-wife, Rose Madden.
Get to know Bryan’s former spouse — and his current one — as well as ex-girlfriends Deb Peifer and LaPaglia below.
Rose Madden
Bryan and Madden served in the US Navy together before tying the knot in July 2020.
The duo divorced the following year, which Madden confirmed in a May 2021 TikTok video.
“when your ex husband moves out, and you are now forced to cook potatoes with a f–king pumpkin pie mold,” she captioned the footage.
Madden’s middle name is Elisabeth, according to Holler, leading fans to believe she is the inspiration behind Bryan’s 2020 album of the same name.
While a photo of them was initially featured on the cover of the record, it has since been changed to a black background on streaming services.
Madden moved on from their marriage, revealing in February 2024 that she is dating a man named Sebastian.
Deb Peifer
Bryan began dating Peifer in early 2022 but announced their “mutual” split in May of the following year.
“For transparency and with respect I am letting everyone know Debra and me went our separate ways about a week and a half ago,” he wrote on X in 2023. “We’re leaving with plenty [of] memories and good times.”
After being “alone for a bit,” Peifer told her TikTok followers in September 2024 that she was dating again.
Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia
LaPaglia confirmed her and Bryan’s “fun and casual” romance in a July 2023 “PlanBri Uncut” podcast episode after “three weeks [of] … hanging out.”
The couple packed on the PDA while making their red carpet debut at the Grammys in February of the following year.
For their first anniversary, Bryan gushed on social media, “I love you so much Brianna. Just about one of the only people that makes me laugh anymore and OFTEN. Proud to call you my girl.”
He revealed their breakup in October 2024, writing via Instagram that he felt it “beneficial for both of [them] to go [their] different ways” due to “an incredibly hard year personally.”
LaPaglia, who was “blindsided” by the musician’s decision to publicize the split, divulged details about Bryan’s allegedly emotionally abusive behavior in a November 2024 “BFFs” episode.
She also claimed to have turned down $12 million to sign an non-disclosure agreement regarding their relationship, insisting she didn’t “want blood money.”
While the Grammy winner did not directly react to his ex’s claims, he reposted a cryptic Jack Kerouac quote reading, “I didn’t know what to say. I felt like crying, Goddammit everybody in the world wants an explanation for your acts and for your very being.”
Hannah Duncan
In March 2025, Bryan made his romance with Hannah Duncan Instagram-official.
The songwriter posted a photo of the Australian model on the beach after a “6 am half marathon.”
It is not known when he and Duncan called it quits.
Samantha Leonard
Bryan had moved on by August 2025, which is when news broke he was dating Samantha Leonard.
Fans were quick to point out the striking resemblance between Leonard and LaPaglia, with the latter’s pal Dave Portnoy calling the similarities “insane.”
In December 2025, Bryan and Leonard tied the knot in Spain.
The groom confirmed the nuptials in an Instagram post captioned, “Tougher than the rest.”
