This actress started her career as a child artist and worked with Tabu and Shah Rukh Khan. A few years later, she made her big Bollywood debut with Aamir Khan and was praised for her performance. The movie turned out to be a big box office hit. Her third film was also with the superstar, which sadly didn’t work well. The film was bashed by the audience and critics and was a big flop. Along with Aamir, the movie also featured two big Bollywood stars. But nothing helped. In an interview, the actress revealed how after the film flopped, she lost out on good projects.
The actress we are talking about is Fatima Sana Shaikh. After Dangal, Fatima worked with Aamir Khan in Thugs of Hindostan. The 2018 film also starred Amitabh Bachchan and Katrina Kaif and received negative reviews. In an interview, Fatima revealed she lost two good solo projects when ToH flopped. The actress opened up about how she was extremely affected by it.
Fatima told Bollywood Bubble, “There was a time when I didn’t want to work. I just wanted to go to Dharamshala, where I had rented a house for three or four months, and live there. My mindset had become such that I wanted to live alone, by the mountains, and open a cafe. I was searching for myself. While I wanted to chase a career and progress professionally, I was also figuring myself out. I didn’t know who I was.” The Pataakha actress added that she was neither confident in her craft nor in herself. She was worried the “truth” would come out if she were to do a solo lead film. Eventually, therapy and support from her loved ones helped her.
In the same interview, Fatima Sana Shaikh thanked Anurag Basu for offering her Ludo. The duo has collaborated again for Metro… In Dino. About Anurag, Fatima shared that Basu has no idea what she did for her. Shaikh revealed, “We were shooting for Ludo, and by then, the production of Thugs of Hindostan had been completed. My confidence was very low. I would check with him for every decision I made as a performer. I couldn’t even tell whether what I was doing was good or not. He said, ‘Don’t doubt yourself this much; you are good. Go with your instincts—your instincts are right.’ Since those words came from someone I look up to, whose work I admire, and whom I believe is one of the best directors for actors, something started changing in me.”
