Matt Damon is a proud girl dad to his four daughters with wife Luciana Barroso.
“I used to be a real [believer] in that nature-nature argument, but I’m now on, like, nature [is] a thing,” Damon said on the “New Heights” podcast in January 2026. “Your kids show up [with] that spirit, that soul is there and it’s going to do what it’s going to do.”
He continued, “The nurture part is very important, you’re going to be helping with that but they really are who they are, like, right away. As they grow older, you still see in their infant phrase, you still see [them] as their [young selves].”
Damon married Barroso, who was already mom of daughter Alexia from a previous relationship, in 2005 when Alexia was 6 years old. Damon and Barroso later welcomed three daughters together: Isabella, Gia and Stella.

Luciana Barroso
The Oscar winner met his now-wife, Luciana Barroso, in 2003 while filming Stuck on You.
“I was working as a bartender in South Beach, and he was shooting a movie there and the crew ended up in the bar one Saturday night,” Barroso recalled to Vogue in 2018. “Matt’s story is that he saw me across the room and there was a light on me. And I’m like, ‘Yeah, it was a nightclub — there were lights everywhere!’”
She continued, “He says, ‘Oh I saw you and I really wanted to talk to you.’I put him to work with me. I said, ‘You know, if you’re going to be back here, you can’t just be standing there!’ He had trained as a bartender for a film years before, so he started making drinks, and he made me a ton of money in tips that night, because of course everyone wanted to go and see him.”
Alexia Barroso
Damon met his now-wife’s eldest daughter, Alexia Barroso, when she was a toddler.
“I jumped into the deep end. I mean, Alexia was already 4 [when we met]. I was an extra dad,” the Rip star told Parade in 2011. “The only way I can describe it – it sounds stupid, but at the end of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, you know how his heart grows, like, five times its size? Everything is full. It’s just full all the time.”
Alexia even made a cameo in Damon’s 2011 movie We Bought a Zoo.

Isabella Damon
Matt and Barroso welcomed daughter Isabella Damon in June 2011. She graduated high school in 2024, subsequently enrolling at New York University.
“It’s a surreal kind of time and the way it operates in your life, the older you get, because it just feels like I was holding her yesterday,” Damon told E! News in September 2024 of preparing for Isabella to leave home. “She’s like one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. She’s really cool.”
Gia Damon
Barroso gave birth to daughter Gia Damon in August 2008.
“My daughter broke her collarbone and this morning she was getting ready for school. She’s 17, and she asked me to brush her hair,” Matt recalled on the “New Heights” podcast in January 2026. “I brushed her hair, and, man, I hadn’t brushed her hair in … eight [or] nine years.”
Stella Damon
Matt and Barroso completed their family when daughter Stella Damon arrived in October 2010.
